Maximus maybe not good as first toy?

    I've been at it a while now, but i just cant seem to get any response with the maximus. I actually only feel something with i sit on it.. a smal jolt and if i ride it on the chaire it feels nice. But just on my belly or in the side in bed it doesn't give much sensation.

    I had a thread on here 3 weeks ago because i think i got really close with a very thin plastice vibrator with a hook on it constant pressure to something that is really just behind the sphincter (at a very extreme angle, i.e. vibrator was literally pointing towards penis). After that i felt (i think) my prostate for a day or so... good, and it felt tingly when i was near going to the toilet.

    anyway i have been on holiday the last 3 weeks. During the holiday I on occasion was able to focus on that area and have some nice feelings (i wouldn't know if it was a p-wave) and i was really looking forward to using the maximus again hoping to get a bit more result then i got before the holiday. (I didn't bring it with me). However now I am using it and the feelings are as absent as before the trip and i'm now just wondering if the maximus is just a very bad toy to start with and if i should have gone a mgx as a beginner.

    in addition to the above... the maximus isn't too big for me. I feel very comfortable with it in me (no full feeling). I also am very relaxed, in fact on several occasions i fell asleep with the maximus in me (like yesterday)

    @jstr,
    I think you may have answered your own question. If the Maximus is doing nothing for you, you're  right; it probably is the wrong one for you to start out with.

    You mentioned the MGX. If you read the Aneros Wiki, I think you will find that this is the model most frequently recommended. If you can, go for that one for the time being.

    Good Luck!

    well the reason im wondering is because one of the milestones in de wiki is also to stop wondering if the toy is right for you.
  • For the larger ones, I've had better luck with the silicone lubes. The water based ones just don't allow enough movement of the larger devices...

    how do you know if the lube is not sufficient?

    @jstr, i dont think the maximus is a bad first time device as I learned on the prograsm.  They all massage the prostate but they do have their own personalities so to speak.  Each device for me at least produces different sensations and feelings.  If money is not an issue then try another device.  Lube is also important and the amount.  Personally I use about 7-10cc of coconut oil or shea butter.  Water based lubes dry up too quickly and will stop the device from moving in my opinion but I do use maximus water based lubes occassionally while coating the device with A&D ointment.

    If the device feels slippery while inside, you 'might' have enough! :)

    @ineverknew,
    Can't remember when but I acquired a tube of "Maximus" lube (so called water-based), but note amongst its ingredients that it lists Silicone Oil.

    I think I'd be wary of using this stuff with any of the silicone Aneros tools. I'm even considering throwing out the remains of it, lest I should forget and do damage to one of them. Like you, I use shea butter but also use a water-based lube to assist insertion; (KY gel for preference).

    i have some vaseline... just tried it as suggested... i feel even less than with the water based lube... I btw do get a tingling feeling. But it feels more like when you get touched by your girlfriend slightly... and it's not originating from my prostate or rectum area at all, more so from the heart region and middle back area...

    It kinda feels like something i will feel from the hypno music (not generated from the aneros). i will keep trying. In the mean time i just will try some lubes and wait for the mgx to arrive.

    @jstr,
    While I do occasionally use Vaseline, (mainly when travelling interstate), I much prefer shea butter.

    I'm not sure where you are from, I rather suspect it is somewhere in the USA. If so, I gather there are many outlets for the purchase of shea butter, both in shops and online.

    If you do decide to get some, make sure it is certified unrefined shea butter. Shea butter is often used as an ingredient in cosmetics, particularly skin care products. These usually contain other chemicals which could prove undesirable if used in the rectum so it is important to avoid these.

    IMO shea butter has the following advantages over many other popular lubricants:

    1. It's great value for money. 250gm of it costs only a few dollars and, depending on the frequency  of your sessions, can last over a year.
    2. It is not greasy or oily. This makes it easy to clean up with just soap and water.
    3. Unlike oils, I find it doesn't tend to leak during use.
    4. It is long lasting. Water-based lubes tend to require a top-up during the session, particularly if the session goes for much more than an hour or so.
    5. It is easy to prepare a session. Here's how I do it:

    Make a small ball of shea butter, using a 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) kitchen measure to scoop it outof its container.
    Depending on ambient temperature, you might have to chill it in the fridge but in winter, you'll be able to use it at room temperature.
    Spread a little water-based lube around the outer sphincter of your anus and then insert the shea butter plug past the second sphincter.
    While the plug is melting, cover the insertable part of your chosen tool with a thin film of shea butter and insert the tool.
    Enjoy the ride!
  • Good info @pommie , thanks for sharing that!

    i'm wondering if vaseline is good to use. it's difficult to clean from the ass.... it slides nice though and nothing sticks to the aneros afterwards either. i had it in last night (by accident) and i took it out this morning (had to go to the toilet right away)... it was clean.

    btw, trying to do some overtime with the aneros. I'm not expecting anything, but my experience with acquiring new skills in other areas (sports and stuff) always required me to spend alot of time in the beginning getting the basics correct, after which it's a slow process of refining

    @jstr,
    Understood!
    Vaseline is a popular choice for lubrication but, as others have found, requires a bit more effort to clean up.

    I do recall a comment made some months ago that Vaseline is perfectly safe to use so I see no reason not to use it beyond the fact that unrefined shea butter is easier to clean up.

    I also like the fact that shea butter seems a natural product somehow - organic maybe?
