Can the Aneros/Prostate Massage help me? Please help!

    Hi Everyone,

I am a relatively healthy 26 year old male. I usually masturbate once every day to every other day. About a month ago in April, I masturbated one too many times, 4 times - the last ejaculation was very painful, sharp and was a stupid thing to do. I masturbated again a couple days later and was even more painful and I realized I hurt myself. The next week I had some shifting pain in my groin area and it felt like I was in a permanent refractory period, with added pain. For a couple days, it was painful to pee. I had some really sharp pains from my nerves in my groin and my shaft was very sensitive. I checked part of my lower shaft near the testes and it was very tender. I was able to get an erection, but my entire shaft was very sore and I felt like I had to go to the bathroom whenever it got to 100%.

I took a break for about 2 weeks and left my system alone. Eventually, I was able to masturbate again, however I had faint pain during and after the ejaculation. I was having some frequent urination with some faint burning. At this point, I went to my urologist. After a DRE, he said my prostate was "soft" and that I had a mild prostate infection. He gave me Doxycyline.

After 11 days, to test Doxy, I ejaculated last Saturday and I still had pain.  I decided to push the envelope a little and ejaculate again on Tuesday. After that, my system seemed to "flare up" and I had harder burning for the rest of the week until the weekend again. I called him up again last week and I have started on Cipro today. On the phone, he told me that there is "no way to know for sure" that I have a bacterial infection.

In total, it has been a month since the incident. My tenderness has gone and most groin pain has gone.  I still have erections, but they are generally a bit weaker and dont last very long. Sometimes I will get 50% morning wood. The burning is definitely there with some tingling. Some days better than others. Physically, my genitals look good.

I've been reading up on Chronic/Acute Prostatitis these past couple of days, and to be honest, I'm kind of scared. Did I screw up permanently here? I'd like to know what everyone thinks. Any guesses would help. I know this is due to my over-masturbation and stupidity. Did I "tear" my prostate? I know its not an STD as I have not been with anyone for a very long time. I don't have a history of prostate problems.

I've stumbled upon William Zaminchsy's website (http://www.prostate-massage-and-health.com/prostate-massage.html#.U3FfwvldW0J) and he offers me hope in case this is not a bacterial infection, or if the antibiotics do not reach the prostate.

I want to catch this early before it gets worse. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Is this a bacterial infection? Or did I "injure" myself down there and the tissue needs to heal?  I am willing to do whatever it takes to get my prostate back. Anything I can do to help the antibiotics reach the prostate? I have been relatively inactive these past couple of months and I understand getting back to the gym and eating healthy will help me, correct?

    Thanks for reading...

Over-doing the masturbation seems the most likely cause since your Dr. said it was likely an infection.

However, should you decide to go the prostate massage route, go gently and slowly to see how you feel after having your prostate massaged!

If anything, the gentle massage may bring blood flow and healing to your prostate so it heals sooner.

I equate your description of how your prostate feels to when I've pulled a muscle...with gentle massage, movement and stretching to help relax the muscles and speed healing! My two cents!

I am sorry to hear about your painful situation but I am glad you are being pro-active about getting medical advice to deal with it. We're not doctors here so our advice should not be relied upon for medical conditions, however, I doubt you did damage to your prostate from penile masturbation only. If, on the other hand, you were employing some anal toy to provide extra stimulation then it is definitely a possibility you did some damage to your prostate and it will take some time to heal. I doubt you've done permanent or severe damage as I would expect if you had done so there would have been significant bleeding seen in your urine (of which you made no mention).
Gentle prostate massage combined with the medication could be the best way to accelerate the healing as you gently encourage more blood to circulate into the prostate.

    Phealth27,

Hi,and very sorry to hear about this.  One thing that might help you a little bit, emotionally, is that there is nothing wrong w/ masturbating 4 times, and there is no reason to think that it would be unhealthy.  That is what your apparatus is there for, to be used.   I agree with Rumel that if you were doing so in an unusually aggressive way, or inserting things improperly into your rectum, then this problem might be expected to arise.

I am somebody who suffers, on and off, from chronic pain in that area and know a good bit about it.

As far as whether prostate massage might help or not, that remains to be seen.  I am not sure the idea of chronic infection of the prostate has much credence any more with those who study this, though i don't know enough to know how that might or might not relate to your case.

One possible explanation for what is going on is that you still have inflammation from the infection or injury.  Sometimes, after having a cold, the nose and throat symptoms last long after the infection is gone, just recovering from the inflammation.

It is possible that massaging the prostate will increase blood flow and help it.  Only trying will tell.  Or it might make things worse.

The one thing that comes to my mind is:  if sex is giving you symptoms, lay off for a good long while, like another couple of weeks or more (i know it will be hard), just to let everything rest, and for the inflammation to clear.

I understand your anxiety.  But have confidence that, despite how things seem now, this will most likely resolve.

When meds don't work, and bacterial tests are negative, I always lean to the muscle soreness/tightness route. Sounds like you may have strained your PC/BC muscles, and possibly they are overtight from excessive use. The BC muscle, specifically, wraps around the base of your penis, controls erectile strength, ejaculatory strength, and can cause pain all up and down the shaft, including urination, as well as the testicles. Look at remedies for CPPS, including stretching and yoga. The Aneros could cause more muscle tenderness, but probably won't alleviate the problem.

Can you relax you BC muscles and PC muscles as you get closer to ejaculating. It is actually a very good feeling. Two years ago I would get very painful tension as I got closer to Ej. This lead me to Aneros. I thought it was from my prostate but it may have been also some sort of BC muscle spasm. Inserted SGX Aneros and relaxing and letting the body organise the Ej has alleviated the pain and as an add on has given me all sorts of pre Ej tingles. It may be the fourth time you masturbated on that that you "tried" tooooo hard to get off and really stressed the muscles. Gentle arousal, stimulation and localised relaxation may ease the situation.
Please note: I have no medical training- just recounting personal experience.

Thanks for the insights guys. I feel a bit better now - I feared I permanently injured myself, but it makes sense - I didnt stick anything up the back door, so its unlikely. The BC/PC muscles I didnt even know about, and that kind of makes sense.

I guess I will take one day at a time and definitely lay off until the burning sensation goes away. I'll look into PC/BC and CPSS stretches and strengthening exercises. I grab an Aneros when I'm mentally ready to take the plunge....so to speak.

Quick update - 1 month later. Most of my symptoms described before have disappeared. The burning peeing has gone away. I ejaculated last weekend and I did not have any groin pain afterwards. I did have some tenderness afterwards, and I felt as if the area all around my shaft was sore and tired. On Monday I finished the cipro.

Unfortunately, I'm getting some really achey groin pain that has moved upwards. This seems like a different symptom than before. Its really apparent whenever I bend over or lie down. Not too sure about this and I'm confused as to whats going on with the change of symptoms.

    @Phealth27,
****If you are unhappy with how you feel or it gets worse or does not go away then go to a GP.***

The pain may be referred pain coming from elsewhere. (For example I believe kidney stones can cause pain in a testicle.)
It can be stress 1. Because you are not happy with your sexuality. 2. You are generally too stressed. 3. Sexually frustrated.
It can be cognitive dissonance meaning you are having an internal conflict over something (Aneros use?)
It can be general poor health, poor diet or lack of exercise.
While you work out what to do, work on being your healthiest self.
