Newbie questions – pre-lubrication, storage and cleaning, usage in a relationship
  • Hi all! I’m a 30 year old guy only heard about Aneros products last weekend but having browsed through the wiki and some great posts here I’m totally sure I need to have one. I don’t have any anal experience, so I have some questions before purchase, I hope you can help.

    - Pre-lubrication sounds like a mystery for me. Having searched the forums I found that some people use small sized standard medical syringes for it, (if I’m right, it means something like the upper left one on this pic: http://orvosplaza.eu/shop_ordered/2903/shop_pic/115.jpg?time=1333610768 ), but I’ve also read, that to apply it correctly you should push the syringe into the anus about one or two inches deep. (two inches sounds like almost the full length of the smaller ones) As all these syringes have a more or less pronounced edge just below the very short tip, I can’t see how these can be used without the risk of hurting yourself. I’m especially concerned about it as I have recurring hemorrhoids – I had painful symptoms twice in the last seven years, corrected by outpatient surgery – so I’d prefer not to push things into my anus, which are not specifically designed for that. I’ve also found that you can use lube shooters for pre-lubrication (like this one http://www.blackdream.hu/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=2105&image=1&osCsid=6bbe8f0ed63b5515d9a0e623fe5ef250 ), which sounds like a reasonable alternative for me.

Having read about anal anatomy and exploring the territory a bit with my fingers I also found that the top of the inner sphincter is actually less than an inch deep inside – and I suppose you should only pass that muscle to lubricate the rectum. That sounds good, but still I think that the tip of a syringe doesn’t penetrate that deep.

So the questions: How exactly do you use a syringe for pre-lubrication? How do you avoid getting hurt from the edge? What other devices can be used for pre-lubrication? Please answer with images linked if possible.

Further questions: Is pre-lubrication strictly necessary? Would you say it’s totally necessary for a total noob, or the opposite? I found a link in the wiki to a thread called "Lube in the anus or just the toy?" but the link doesn’t work in this new forum, and I can’t even find this thread.

    - How do you clean Aneros and the pre-lubricant device? Do you use antiseptics? How do you store them?

    - Do you have any advice on using Aneros in a relationship? Me and my girlfriend are living in a small aparment and we have the same daily schedule (leaving the home together in the morning and arriving at the same time after work) so I won’t have any private time to experiment. Basically it means that whenever I’ll use Aneros she’ll be at home, probably in the next room. Fortunately we can talk about sex quite openly, but the first time I’ve mentioned what I read about prostate massagers she didn’t seem to like the idea. I’m more or less sure that I can convice her, explain her why I want to buy Aneros, still I worry a bit that the whole initial experimentation part can be ruined by … her mere presence in the next room. Telling her „Hey, I want to play around with my brand new sex toy, so just sit here and don’t come into the bedroom in the next two hours under any circumstances” sounds a bit absurd to me. But using Aneros during sex without any experience doesn’t sound good either. Does anyone have advice/experience on how to handle such situation? Is it a good idea to get her involved from the very beginning somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Both options are fantastic options.   However, in my opinion, option 1 is less expensive.  I use the 5ml version, but to address your concern with them, I snap the top off.  You can do so very easily with your fingers by applying a little pressure.  Sometimes the tip is to soft, so just use a utility knife and slice AWAY from you.  These work great, are a nice size and very comfortable.

Once the syringe is in, it will penetrate to the depth required.  My 5ml syringes are about 2.5 inches.  More than enough to lubricate everything.

So the questions: How exactly do you use a syringe for pre-lubrication? How do you avoid getting hurt from the edge? What other devices can be used for pre-lubrication? Please answer with images linked if possible.

I remove the tip as described above, and wash it well.  Then place my finger over the whole at the top and add my lube to the bottom.  I do not draw it into the syringe.  Once I have the desired amount, I insert the plunger slowly, but just enough to hold.  Then the syringe is turned upright with the hole to the ceiling, and I slowly allow my finger to be removed.  Yes, some of the lube will leak out, but you need to lubricate the syringe before inserting it anyway, so nothing is wasted.  I then push the plunger to remove the air in the chamber.  Now your syringe is safe and ready to use.

    Is pre-lubrication strictly necessary?

The simple answer and in my opinion the only answer is "YES".  Without pre-lubricating the device will not move freely, and will not be as effective or efficient. The stem, where your bum hits the air is what dries out the fastest.  This can cause the Aneros to not be as effective, so make sure to keep it lubed.

Tell your girlfriend!  I hid my usage from my wife for over a year.  I had great sessions before telling her, but never really let go because I was afraid she may hear me.  I have a home office that is pretty secluded, and she leaves me alone because she knows I'm working... well most of the time :)  Anyway, one day after a couple of drinks, I marched into my office and grabbed two of my toys, my Helix and MGX and took them to her.  I showed her what I had been doing at times, and why I was using them.  My primary is prostate health, but the secondary side effects can't be ignored.  After having a great conversation with her, I could finally say the elephant in my office is gone. It was so liberating to look at her and say, "Honey, I'm going to the office for an hour or two for a prostate massage.  See you in a bit."

Best thing that I've done.  My mind was free, and I didn't have to worry about her knowing or finding out.  I sometimes imagine she is watching me in pure Ecstasy.  Shortly after telling her, I had my first Super, and to this day continue to have better and better ones.  Set yourself free, and enjoy.

My wife doesn't play with my toys.  I'm sad by that, but OK with it too.  I say include her in the whole process.  Talk to her, and ask her to be a part of the process.  But her integration will be slow until you have unlocked and awoken your prostate.  I'm sure she will understand that.

Best of luck liquidtorpedo, and enjoy the ride.

  • Hi Az,

Thank you for the great advices. I guess I'll purchase both shooter and syringe and experiment with them a bit to see the ups and dows. Shooters aren't that expensive and as I read, with proper cleaning you can use them for long. Cutting the tip also sounds good, I guess I just have to make sure not leaving any sharp edges.
About pre-lubrication: thanks for the detailed answer. As I see one must try both ways to see the advantages and possible disadvantages of them. Application of pre-lube currently sounds to me like a necessary thing, so I'll probably start my journey this way.

About the GF question: I've just had a great conversation about Aneros with my her. She assured me that she's totally okay with it and then we talked about sex and toys for hours on end. It was a deliberating experience. I can only recommend it to everyone. Usage of such an intimate toy in secret and the possible guilt can only ruin the whole experience - that's what I think. My GF is not a keen sextoy user either but if she's okay with my decision it's okay for both of us.

Thanks for the advice again! It's good to see that there's so many helpful people around here.
  • Another way I like to prelude is push some in with a finger.
Two or three blobs worked in is usually enough.

I regularly have sessions with the other half, in fact she'll often suggest, "Put your toy in."
She loves watching me have wave after wave of dry orgasms.
Then when she starts on my nipples I'm soon shooting a big hands free climax.

I am only new with nice but not super experiences. I also have occasional heamorrhoids. I have a number of Aneroses. I find that the SGX and the MGX cause me much less problems with the heamorrhoids. I think it is the narrowness of the stem. I think that the wider stem on the Helix etc. leave the outer sphincter stretched a bit and that seems to create the problems. These are my thoughts for what it is worth and other more advanced members will have a much clearer understanding.

My wife is 'aboard' on most of my kinks and adding another has never been an issue.  So, it's easy to offer some narrow-sighted advice.

We started with a p-spot toy that was poorly designed and wouldn't stay in place during sex.  We bought into the Aneros Helix as an adjunct to sex following the promise of a counter clerk who  said, "...don't worry, this won't fall out!"  Since you've already opened that discussion, you are already on third-base and headed for homeplate (gud show guy!).

At the time I had no clue about prostate-initiated dry-orgasm or MMO.  We started with the Helix and after three months I 'graduated' downward to an SGX for foreplay and coitus.  (I prefer the shorter toy during thrusting or fast repositioning).   My wife isn't much into anal touching so we tied a shoe lace onto the Aneros tail for her to play with.

About that time I stumbled across the Aneros Forum and started on my Journey.  That was my first solo experience with the Helix.  Most of my solo sessions are solo-orgasmic in nature and involve extended meditation.  She visits me during some of my play or therapy sessions that finish with a Super-T or transition to previously unanticipated couples sex.

Suggestion:  Start out with an Aneros as an adjuct to your own foreplay-coitus routine and keep your g/f informed about what it's doing for you and the changes you experience over several weeks or months of those experiences.  I'd suggest an SGX and simple lube (Vaseline or Crisco) smeared on the toy with perhaps a finger full on your inner sphincter.  Give yourself a half-hour after a thorough bowel movement before you lube and you'll do fine.  Leave douching, enema and sophisticated lubes alone until you and your g/f are comfortable with the Aneros as a prostate toy.  Think of this as doing for you what you do with/to your g/f's g-spot.  If you go the shoe-string route, your g/f might help ring your bell.

As far as deeper injection of lube is concerned, starting with a commercial anal lube shooter is probably easiest.  Later on you can save money using a plastic medication syringe along with the rectal tip from the hose set on an enema bag.  Depending on the type of lube I'm injecting, Cleaning that sort of gear is easy with hot water and soap.  Consider cycling it with a few cc's of rubbing alcohol If you live where fungus or mold is a problem.  If you opt for anti-septic soaps or detergents, make sure you thoroughly rinse it from your toys and any hygiene gear.

At some point in the not too distant future go shopping with your g/f for a good g-spot toy (that might be an Aneros EVI), bring her some flowers, candles and bubble bath, quality vaginal lube and lend her a vibe (perhaps out of a Vice).  Have her solo her session and she'll better understand your future solo sessions.

Make sure she appreciates what Aneros does for you and that it's not something that competes with her.  Just as you shouldn't feel that her solo orgasmic ventures and experiences don't compete with your affection.

OTOH, if she is into rimming you, wants to initiate prostate massage with her finger or wants to don a harness and peg you, forget all the above and go for that.  :D  :)

Best wishes to you both and to both of you, welcome to the Aneros gang, the Forum and to an occasional chat.  We're here to help.

    blessings....   rook
