health vs. pleasure?
  • *might have been more accurate to have titled this "performance vs. pleasure?"*

Good day, all. I am a first time poster on this forum, and have yet to purchase an Aneros. After reading up and researching (official info/explanations from this site, forum posts, etc.) I have questions--any help, info or instruction would be greatly appreciated!

One hand, I've read much about the Aneros having many sexual health benefits, specifically that Aneros can improve libido, sexual stamina, and allow one to achieve firmer erections. I have also read about the "restorative" benefits of Aneros (being of benefit to those that suffer from erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation).

On the other hand, I see much said about the "re-wiring" to achieve "hands-free" orgasms and orgams without erection. While much is said about the great pleasure involved, these characterisitics would seem to be counter-productive to sexual intercourse.

Is it simply a matter of there being some models and intructions/procedures that cater to sexual improvement (regarding intercourse) and others that simply place pleasure as its ultimate goal?

Again, any help and/or clarification would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all, in advance.
  • Welcome. It's pretty simple really. Once you learn how to use the Aneros, and this can take some time, you can experience levels of pleasure that you had no idea even existed. It really is a wonderful thing in that respect, and I can't for the life of me see why any person would NOT want to experience that. As for this pleasure being counterproductive in helping with intercourse, I can't say that that has been the case for me. Sex has been even better (not that it wasn't good), as I have a much better developed sense of how to control my orgasms and what I want to get from each one. This is all a direct result of using my Aneros massagers as well as other anal plugs and toys.

    fortwayne,

    Welcome to the Aneros Forums,

High Island Health LLC is the parent company & manufacturer of the Aneros® brand of prostate massagers. This patented device was originally and is currently offered for sale as the Pro-State® line of massagers on the High Island Health website. The HIH website is primarily oriented toward the health aspects and benefits of prostate massage in accord with Oriental medicine for prostate related issues. A forum for users to discuss practice with these devices also exists on that website, I encourage you to check out that site to learn more about the health benefits, the ongoing Columbia Medical School study using the Pro-State massagers and testimonials from users regarding their experiences. The Aneros® website, by contrast, is oriented toward the sensual pleasure aspects of prostate massage.

FYI, the Aneros SGX model is identical to the High Island Health PS-2 model. The Aneros Helix model is equivalent to the HIH PS-X, the Aneros Classic (only available in the 'Volcano Pack') is equivalent to the HIH PS-NEW model and the Aneros Peridise lineup is equivalent to the HIH Peristal models. As far as I know there are no HIH cross equivalents for the Aneros MGX, Maximus, Eupho or Progasm models.

Since you haven't yet purchased your first Aneros model, I recommend that you read the following : Selection Guide from the Aneros Learning Center pages, "Choosing a Model" from the WIKI and “Which model is best for new users?” from the Community Polls Forum. For additional information and reviews, you may wish to read the Sticky: ANEROS THE NEXT GEN, PROGASM, & PERIDISE REVIEWED.

One of the truly wonderful aspects of this journey is that whether the reason you begin is for the health benefits or the pleasure benefits, you get to have both, a true Win-Win situation. I don't believe there is any difference between models as far as their function as prostate massagers, the differences are more to accommodate an individual's sensitivity to stimulation.

Typically, I recommend either the Helix or MGX models for beginners. Bigger is not necessarily better, the saying "Good things come in small packages." is particularly applicable to the Peridise model, but then it is not a prostate massager.
  • Thank you very much, "waverider", for your points of view--great to hear about how you've benefited. Thanks to you, too, "rumel" for both your pm and additional info posted here. Yes, I am familiar with that site and agree that is is mostly geared towards those benefits related to health (specifically prostate health); however, the Aneros site and wiki also (or at least it used to, a while back) speak of sexual benefits and restoration of performance (in additon to said benefits also being pleasurable to achieve).

To be more pointed, I guess I am trying to clear up whether there are ways to use the device that are for sexual performance (stamina, firmness, aid for e.d.), that also happen to be pleasureable...and different ways to use that are more geared for pleasure, alone.

I guess I am still trying to reconcile the percieved contradictions (is it merely a misassumption on my part that training one's self to have orgasms without penile touch and orgasms without erections would not be ideal for those dealing with premature ejaculations and/or erectile dysfunction??).

Are the Aneros methods to achieve each goal not different?

Again, thanks in advance, for any additional clarification.

Hey, fortwayne. Like waverider, the pleasurable aspect of reaching the level of having super orgasms has not been counterproductive to sex with my wife. In fact, harder erections and better control through longer and more intense traditional ejaculatory orgasms have resulted, making the months of training and rewiring worth it. As to your question about ways to use the massagers for sexual performance that happen to be pleasurable let me offer the following.

One way to use an Aneros prostate massager, and the simplest way for someone just getting started with the device to use it in a pleasurable way that enhances sexual performance, is to use it for traditional intercourse, as with your wife, inserting it before or in the course of foreplay either yourself, or if she would be interested in participating, by showing her how to do so, then having intercourse and ejaculating with it in place. Most men note harder, longer lasting erections during intercourse and the ability to control and prolong ejaculation better this way making it more intense and satisfying.

The other way to use the Aneros is to train yourself over what can in some cases be a lengthy period of time (often months) to have dry prostate orgasms, much of what you'll see discussed in this forum being relating to skills for making this successful, and then with the expanded understanding of your body's sexual responsiveness this provides, to make the sensations you feel as you share intercourse with her more enjoyable.

However, these two principal ways Aneros massagers are used share little overlap or similarity. Though the Aneros can be used to enhance the pleasure with traditional ejaculatory sex as described first above, that traditional sexual event still proceeds as we're all familiar with sexual arousal, an erection with penile stimulation, and then finally an ejaculatory orgasm with a refractory period following. Using the Aneros to produce a dry orgasm, as described secondly above, proceeds through a much different process: relaxation typically without traditionally arousing sexual stimuli, no touching or stimulation of the penis and no concern whether full, partial, or no erection occurs and instead touching the nipples or other sensitive areas of your body, and heightened sensitivity to and development of subtle amplification techniques for sensations arising in the ano-rectal, prostate, and pelvic areas that eventually bring about dry or prostate originated orgasms from which no refractory period results.

I can think of no specific situations in which mere pleasure without any attendant sexual performance benefits exist and to my knowledge, no particular Aneros model(s) are intended for performance vs. pleasure or vice versa. They simply vary as to "fit" and degree of prostate contact desired or appropriate to the specific individual using them.
  • health vs. pleasure?

*might have been more accurate to have titled this "performance vs. pleasure?"*

From my experience, I went through a spell a few years back when my sexual interst seemed to wane, and I couldn't even make it with my wife for a little while. This was so unlike me, as since we first married more than 30 years ago, I have had no problems along this line. Anyhow, around this time I was just beginning to research and check into prostate stimulation. I noticed, that after trying for myself prostate stimulation, my interest so increased in sex, that I was back and at it with my wife, ha.
I find that the interest and performance gained with use of the aneraos, can only help oneself, and one's mate. That's my two cents worth.
Prostate stimulation, which can be extremely pleasurable, also has a healthful off-shoot benefit in terms of intercourse with others too. In a way they are interconnected.

Traditional penile sex is reasonably healthy.
There are 2 reasons why it is less healthy than prostate massage, and once you know how, MUCH less pleasurable as well.

1)With penile sex, the prostate only indirectly gets stimulated and also for a relatively short time(average approx. 5 min.) With the prostate massage you stimulate the prostate directly and sessions can last many hours.
2)Ejaculation drains your body of resources which not only dampens your energy and makes you feel lethargic, but lowers your resistance making you more vulnerable for disease and perhaps even shorten your lifespan. (A super O actually makes you more energetic)

It's a well known fact that giving your pc-muscle a workout is good for your sexual health, stamina etc.
I think I can speak for others when I say that before using the Aneros training my pc muscle was never accompagnied by pleasurable sensations, after the 're-wiring' this alone can give me orgasmic like sensations.
So you see health benefits and amazing pleasure don't run contrary to each other. What the Aneros helps you achieve is a prostate awareness, once achieved(re-wiring) makes the healthy stuff(pc-exercises etc) extremely pleasurable.

    Guys,

I believe this statement is false [QUOTE=Helixer;92272]
2)Ejaculation drains your body of resources which not only dampens your energy and makes you feel lethargic, but lowers your resistance making you more vulnerable for disease and perhaps even shorten your lifespan. while the refractory period after an ejaculation may tend to bring on sleepiness and a sense of temporary lethargy due to hormonal releases, I am not aware of any scientific evidence to suggest that ejaculations increase your risk for disease or shorten your lifespan. In fact there is evidence to the contrary as a famous Australian study found - Graham Giles (study leader) "What we found was men who ejaculated most (more than five times a week) in their 20s, 30s and 40s had about a third less prostate cancer risk than men in the lowest category of ejaculation...Semen is a very potent and strong brew of lots of chemicals which, because of their biological reactivity, could be carcinogenic if left to lie around." see - Current medical beliefs about masturbation . Aneros usage, through prostate massage, provides a gentle form of emission, providing similar benefits to masturbatory ejaculations.

Let us be clear about something here, unprotected sex exposes both partners to potential STD's. It is not the ejaculation which makes you vulnerable to those diseases. It is the contact with the other persons infected bodily fluids that puts you at risk. No contact = No risk, so enjoy your solo ejaculations as and when you like without fear of contracting some disease or foreshortening your life.

As I explained, the reason if sex or masturbation has health benefits, is because the prostate gets stimulated INDIRECTLY.
And guess what? semen is even used in anti-aging cosmetics! (Nip/Tuck has an episode on it)
It has all kinds of healthy, life giving properties. And you loose it when you ejaculate. Perhaps with masturbating things might be salvaged it if you swallowed it again after you were done. But no such luck where it goes into a hole
But just say for argumentssake, that contrary to common sense, it was toxic. There are all kinds of ways your body naturally gets rid of it, e.g. wet dreams.
Anyway, if you want more rational behind what was said, read some of the ancient Tantric wisdom in the books of Mantak Chia('The Multi-Orgasmic Man')

    Guys,

[QUOTE=Helixer;92274]As I explained, the reason if sex or masturbation has health benefits, is because the prostate gets stimulated INDIRECTLY.In the interest of providing more complete information, it is widely recognized and proven in numerous health studies regular sexual activity does have health benefits, this is not an "if" condition. Secondly, the statement neglects to mention the broader stimulatory effects of sexual activity on the many other organs of the body such as the heart, lungs, muscles and the brain. The entire cardio-vascular system is affected, the endocrine system is stimulated and the psyche is pleasantly stimulated as well.
But just say for argumentssake, that contrary to common sense, it was toxic. There are all kinds of ways your body naturally gets rid of it, e.g. wet dreams.Semen (ejaculate) does contain a number of compounds which have nutritive value (proteins & minerals) when fresh, but like all organic compounds these begin to degrade over time, transforming into other, possibly toxic, chemical compounds. The fact the body does naturally rid itself of old, stagnate semen via wet dreams, as the author noted, would indicate our bodies have evolved to excrete these compounds because of their potential toxicity. Unfortunately, not all men are able to experience this natural way of 'cleansing the pipes' and if not excreted these, now degraded compounds, are reabsorbed back into the body. IMHO, it makes sense the body would want to rid itself of potentially toxic compounds just as it does other potentially toxic by-products such as urine and feces. Regular ejaculatory events are a healthy, pleasurable way to flush out the stale contents of not only the prostate gland but also the Cowper's gland, seminal vesicles, testes and vas ducts.
Anyway, if you want more rational behind what was said, read some of the ancient Tantric wisdom in the books of Mantak Chia('The Multi-Orgasmic Man')Tantric teaching emphasizes conservation of semen but does not advocate total non-ejaculation, even the ancients understood the importance of periodic cleansing of the organs and its purifying effect. They understood the value and importance of prostate (sacred spot) massage. The conservation of semen is an effective way to build arousal levels thus facilitating and elevating the energy level of orgasms to propel couples into higher spiritual planes in accord with Tantric Philosophy. It is my understanding the practice of extending the period between ejaculations serves to heighten and re-circulate sexual energy instead of dissipating this energy through frequent ejaculations. This subject has been discussed in numerous other posts on this Forum.

So I'm supposed to know who Michael F. Leitzmann, MD; Elizabeth A. Platz, ScD; Meir J. Stampfer, MD; Walter C. Willett, MD; Edward Giovannucci, MD are?

Why should I just unwittingly accept their conclusion, coz beyond my knowing this lone report is meant to be some authority on the issue?
Everyone's got their agenda, why should I support theirs when it's so contrary to mine, the one that's life conserving?
Where does it explicity mention prostate massagers like Aneros? Have they factored that into their hypothesis?
I guess I missed that part. Ok,if ejaculating is better than what I'm suggesting, perhaps you can explain why people attempting a major performance don't masturbate before a major event for a both mental and physical performance? Drained of their energy, their creativity, their lifeforce....
so you are really trying to tell me that regular ejaculation is better than no ejaculation?
I think for myself,I've studied the phenomena well firsthand, actual handson experience, I think I know what I'm talking about, how about you?
btw you're misinformed about the tantric stuff, seedexpulsion should be purely for making babies, the rest is about concerving the creative, livegiving energy and substance

Anyway so you are trying to say that the biological function of excretion and sperm should be the same??????My uninformed guess would be that comparing excretion and sperm would be a slightly wonky comparison to make don't you?
Why not compare it to the stomach as well, don't you think that different biological units of functioning should have different attributes as well?

PS, what's this with the guys stuff?can't you address me directly?Come on guys tell me, are you the guys he's talking about?
    -----------------------------------------
You're accusing me of making false statements and using 'evidence'that doesn't factor in prostate massagers, you're making out that sperm has the same qualities as feces and urine. Perhaps my message wasn't clear enough, but sperm has different properties than bodily waste. You HAVE to get rid of the former when the latter is done volentarily. You're whole thesis rests on that you believe sperm to be of the same toxicity as feces, there must surely be a biological reason feces can't be used to impregnate???

You haven't made a proper argument.
    I don't see anything 'false'in my statement
We both agree about prostate massage, and that to me is what your research shows.
The conserving of sperm being toxic is however contrary to my experience. I have more energy, better resistance(sick less). It can't be ascertained If I'll live longer I agree, but IMO common sense dictates that I'm healthier when I don't ejaculate, and living healthily usually translates into longevity.

You can have exact same benefits while Super O-ing, doing cardio, fitness, etc, WITHOUT ejaculating and have much more energy to really perform!!
  • I want to t!hank everyone who has posted and contributed thier thoughts and views!Additionally, I was wondering if anyone may have a particular regimen or set of precedures that work best for them, regarding using aneros to achieve firmer erections, longer lasting erections and/or increased performance...while avoiding phenomena such as erectionless orgams and hands-free orgasms. I have read the official instructions on this site and was wondering if anyone had any "tweaks" or additons...or maybe something completely different that works for them to increase sexual stamina. Also, was wondering if anyone has used aneros to overcome impotence or premature ejaculation...and how they did it.My thanks in advance.
EDIT: Now that I re-read this last post, I think that my questions may be veering, slightly, and that it might be best to make a new thread to focus more on these last series of questions. Again, I thank everyone that has been a part of this thread!

Yeah staying hard can become be a problem coz you're basically focussing your orgasmic energy in another area so the penis gets neglected.I think maybe a cockring would help(but I'm not sure as blood seems to follow where your attention/chi still the ring should help contain it) goes and keeping the Aneros in seems to keep your erection firm.
Coz like I wrote in dtmsmith's thread http://www.aneros.com/forum/f5/mystery-solved-14972/
You can have multiple dry orgasms by focussing the attention inwards, the pre-wiring responses however seem to get triggered when focussing attention outwards(s.o, porno)
    Hope this helps
