Anticipatory IBS (AIBS)?

Have any of you experienced this? You've cleaned yourself out, and you're just sitting there, everything is feeling fine, so you decide to have a session; and as you are preparing, GGLLUURRRBBB! A gas attack!

I know it can't be my lube (Slippery Stuff Gel), but even before I inject any lube, I start feeling a gas bubble work its way through my intestinal track, and just a few minutes before deciding to have a session, all clear.

    What gives?

    Hi Badger! :D

As the old saying goes or went: "Never borrow trouble needlessly". I have IBS and wouldn't wish it on anybody else!!! Actually, my years of anal play and prostate massage (this is my 50th Anniversary as a solo prostate massager) have been paradoxical.

I find the various things I used to use before aneros, and by far the best things ever being my Aneros models, to be like an IBS Soother. Somehow, it seems to help smooth out and regularize the peristalsis rhythms, relaxing the system. The Smoke Rings Ping Orgasms that I get from "memories of peridise" and Eupho, IMHO, which can travel from the anus up the alimentary canal quite a distance, are very good therapy for IBS.

While my aneros sessions can have the effect of the aneros having the action of a suppository and drawing down the next batch of feces into the rectum, I do not have any problem with gas as you describe. Perhaps yours is dietary or stress induced?

all the best calming and deeply relaxed systems all

  • A couple of pointers:

    1) An obvious factor is what you've eaten before the session - I've noticed that it's the quantity that matters, and not necessarily the foodstuffs that might give you gas.

    2) After cleaning yourself with an enema, try stretching your spine gently to sides on your knees - this both relaxes and applies a bit of pressure on the abdomen, possibly letting you clear out the gas before you get into the session. If not flexing, you still should give yourself ten minutes or so after performing the enema. As the immediate obstructions in your rectum are flushed out, any pressure you might have in your bowels is more easily released.

    Badger,

I'm curious, when you mention "cleaning out", how much solution are you using? Remember the idea for an effective douching/enema is just enough to clean out the rectum. If you use too much solution you run the risk of involving your colon and at that point you're really committed to something. It shouldn't take more than 4 to 6 ounces to do the trick. What you are experiencing as a "gas bubble" may be the result of liquid making it's way higher into your system and initiating peristaltic action. Try using 4 ounces and see where it gets you. Also, make sure that the temperature of the fluid is as near to body temp as possible. This factor is often neglected by users. A solution that is too warm or too cold can also trigger peristalsis.

A proper point. It's easy to overestimate the amount of liquid really needed. Personally, I know that I've let too much water in if I start feeling the pressure pushing against the inside of my sphincter.

Sometimes 6-10 ounces, but usually nothing; I try to have a BM before a shower, then wash the area thoroughly, sticking my finger in the edge to clean out any leftover detritus. It invariably occurs somewhere between after I make up my mind to have a session and just after I insert the Aneros. It can be very annoying.

A recent related post by rumel on 3/21/10, in the Runny Bowel thread --http://www.aneros.com/forum/f5/runny-bowels-14327/index2.html -- may be somewhat germane.

Rumel notes a sort of 'reverse peristalsis' which clears the rectum, backward, within 30 minutes of a bowel movement.

I'd not experienced any such action until the last couple of months. The onset of this delight seemd to coincide with seven or eight months of Aneros journey. (Note that in the same Runny Bowel thread Artform makes note that the phenomena is related to continued Aneros use.)

My response was first identified as a curious 'empty euphoria' about 20 minutes after a "normal" bowel movement. ("Normal" may only have meaning to those of us who fall off 'regularity' into some form of IBS.) Occasionally I get a second cycle of the same 'good feeling of emptiness' about 20 minutes after the first one. I've prepped a couple of sessions after that second feeling of 'goodness' and the douche has produced nada. (Giving increased credence to those gents who say, I never need douche/enema before a session.) -- I used to think, "you've gotta be shitting me." :)

So with that in mind, for the guys who find a need to douche, it appears that there's probably a 'natural' cycle to be exploited once a man builds this 'reverse peristaltic' action.

I'm tempted to identify a couple of 'ideal' times-of-day related to food and fiber intake.

For now, my investigation and progress has been halted by an IBS-A attack, probably triggered by thinning some cold SheaB with castor oil. I'll get back with this in a week or two when the innards settle down.

Any other thoughts ??? Perhaps just some ideas for a poll ???
