Finishes on the stem on different models
  • So, I have a Helix and am adding a Progasm (which I got today) and a Eupho (not here yet).

Anyhow, do the different models have different finishes? My Helix is kind of rough and matte, which I know people have sanded smooth to good benefit. But the Progasm I got today was much more smooth and shiny. Is that the normal finish on the Progasm?

What kind of finish is on the other models?
  • I have used rubbing compound (regular auto body) with a nitrile glove and buffed my other Aneros models. I haven't gotten around to my Peridise set yet, but intend to. I think it is a good idea, if for no other reason than to make it less abrasive while inside. It does seem to make it more comfortable.
  • Well, the question was also if other people's Progasm had the smoother texture to it, or there is something odd (read: potentially used/modded) with the one I got.

I was also cursious about the finish in general on all models--if it varied model to model.

    Thanks.

What you are all noticing relates to the different materials that are used to make these devices. The Helix, MGX, SGX, Eupho and Maximus are all made from a substance called acetal, which has a matte like finish. The Progasm is made of polyethylene which is smoother and shinier.

  • AH ha, well that explains it. I was a little surprised by the difference. Seems strange to change the material for just one of the products.

I seem to remember reading here that acetal was considered too heavy for the Progasm so a lighter alternative was chosen. I may be wrong though...

  • Weight would make sense. It's hard for it be agile if it weighs more. I've been curious on how well the njoy Pfun Plugs can move since they are metal. I think I saw they were like 2 pounds or something. talk about muscle exercise.

I bought the Pfun - there is only one, the others are just plugs of differing sizes - and found it a waste of a lot of money. It does practically nothing for me. As you say, far too heavy even at 10.6 ounces.

Njoy's 'Pure Plugs' are just that. The largest, the Pure Plug 2, is 1 1/4 pounds in weight. The '2' comes from its diameter, not its weight.

Give me an Aneros any day!
