Distinguishing between PC and anal sphincter muscles?

    (Crosspost from Reddit)

The title says it all. All the guides for achieving super-O suggest that my body needs to enter a "tug-of war" between my PC muscles and my sphincter muscles.

The problem I'm running into is; when I try to clench my muscles, it seems to be "all or nothing." I'm able to flex all my related muscles down there at once, but I can't distinguish between flexing my sphincter vs flexing my PC. They feel like a single, large muscle group.

I've never really thought of it before, but that's probably why people often fart when they relax to pee, or why might automatically pee while they're sitting down to poop. It must take some awareness and practice to get them to move independently of one another.

Am I alone in this struggle? Has anyone found a good practice or exercise that helped them "separate" their awareness of these muscle groups and become proficient at controlling them individually?

Focus just on the muscles that control urination!

Read the Contraction Exercises section here http://wiki.malegspot.com/index.php?title=Getting_Started#Contraction_exercises. Part of this is learning to visualize the different muscles as you contract. I can contact my anal sphincters and pelvic floor muscles in succession like in a wave. It took me a while to learn that. I couldn't differentiate the different muscles in the beginning either. Also I think the peridise and tempo helped me to isolate my anal muscles.

That whole muscle group contracts if you "pull in" hard enough.  But what you really want to do instead is while very relaxed, gently pull in with your bladder sphincter, just as though you were cutting off urine flow mid-stream.  In fact, this is a good way to practice isolating that type of contraction.

Next time you have to pee really good, sit on the toilet girl style and let go to start your pee stream and them gently pull in with your bladder sphincter just enough to stop the flow and practice this several times.  That's the contraction you want to use while relaxing with your Aneros in.  Works best for me when I'm on my back in bed and gently tickling my nipples.  Lots of nice sensations follow.

I had a hard time distinguishing my anal sphincters and PC muscle until late last November when Tempo came into my life. Almost immediately the Tempo taught me Aneros rhythm, the Aneros autof**k, and Aless bliss! Now outside of actual Aneros sessions, Aless runs 24/7. I call that covert Aless. I can tap into covert Aless to produce the bliss of overt Aless. And yes, @slimjm, stimulating my nipples as well as deep and easy breaths enables me to go even into an Aless trance. :D
