I ask this because it has often occurred to me that different people list differing responses to their aneros use.

One that is regularly described is the state of a man's erection, presumably because it is regarded as highly significant?  It was "hard as concrete", or some other such description.

For those of us that do not tend to get an erection within their aneros sessions this can be a distressing observation, since we grow up knowing that an erections are the outwards sign of virility, and by implication of masculinity.  Within aneros sessions, the prevalence of erection anecdotes can make those who do not get them feel somewhat negative about their own experiences, leading some to conclude perhaps, that they are not having dry orgasms because they don't have an erection.

More than these observations though - is it possible that we are getting real differences in our experiences?  For instance, I rarely get the pumping of the abdominal muscles in a pseudo-wet orgasm manner than others describe, and I suspect this is due to a lack of engorgement. However, I do have the most wonderful experiences with my aneros, and am now beginning to think I am experiencing "calm-seas" orgasms. Could calm seas orgasms correspond with guys that don't tend to get an erection with aneros use?  I really don't know.

Anyhow - variety is the spice of life, and we should all appreciate whatever pleasure we get from our aneros use.  This is not intended to be a thread about which manifestation is the best, but it is about pondering the differences, and trying to make some sense of them.

@linum, i m 39, so kinda young compared to some of you folks.  I used to get an erection constantly with aneros use, but I think that was do to not being rewired yet, my body was feeling pleasure which in turn caused an erection.  1.5yrs later and I rarely get an erection unless its something new feeling.  Most times in the past when I  get an erection thru aneros use i get rock hard, but i dont usually care for it cause it then causes large muscle contractions which will stop the aneros movement.  Of the two super O's ive had i was hard but it was different, like it was disconnected from my aneros pleasure, with no large contractions, weird.  I have had many dry O's where I was as limp as a wet noodle and they were spectuacular.  I have had only one calm seas orgasm, and that was extremely weird for me, cant recall if I had an erection or not.

I finally got to the point I didn't sweat worrying about what was going on "down there".  I usually start off with an erection when the Aneros first goes in, kind of just can't help it as it makes first contact with the prostate, then it goes away completely while I relax and "do nothing" for that first 5 to 10 minutes.  Then when I actually "start" with things (touching my belly and chest and tickling my nipples) an intensely hard erection accompanies my first prostate orgasm and as the orgasms cycle over and over about 2 to 3 minutes apart for the usual 20 to 30 minutes my sessions last, the erections cycle with them but become less intense as subsequent O's come.  The last 2 or 3 O's come with me completely soft and these feel the most "calm seas" in character.

Thanks for your comments guys.  Already it should be apparent to newbies that the penis does not have to be involved, or that it does so intermittently.  If it is present at all, it is the side-dish not the main course.

I have perceived from comments elsewhere on this forum, that perhaps an erection it is considered important - as if it is a sign that something is happening. Brine's comments suggests that it is enjoyable however.

Slimjm's comments hint at something I have suspected for a while, that Calm Seas Orgasms do not involve the penis at all - unless anyone out there knows differently?

Ineverknew's comments are interesting, since he does perceive a difference in the sensations between when hard and when "limp as a wet noodle" (haha - thanks for that).  Since I have little experience of being hard using my aneros, I wouldn't have been able to say that for sure.  I suspected from my limited experience that erections do change the sensations however.

Please keep commenting on this - it is proving interesting.

You've touched upon a problem that many newbies encounter when starting their Aneros journey. The problem of misinformation and male myths. Some of these problems were identified in the thread -> Identifying Obstacles to Progress. Effective Aneros use really requires a man to re-examine many of his previous concepts about male sexuality, sensuality and pleasure. For some men this is a daunting task to shift the focus of pleasure away from their penis, however, it is a paradigm shift in thinking that is needed to move forward as eloquently stated in the Penis, NOT thread by 'Cockadoodle' and 'rook's thread Whole Body/Whole Mind - the mental side.

It is frequently mentioned on this forum one of the central aspects of the path to the Super-O is having a high level of arousal. Unfortunately, I think far too many men think this is referring to the erectile state of their penis. NO, this is a misinterpretation of the term, on this Forum, it is a term with a much wider meaning (see the WIKI Glossary & the Are you "aroused"? thread for details). The point here being - you can be in a highly aroused state of being and still have a flaccid penis, you can experience orgasms (both wet and dry) with a flaccid penis, so don't worry about it.
Personally, after nearly six years of Aneros use, when I have orgasms, they are now all of the "calm seas" type, rarely do I experience strong involuntary contractions or spasms of any type. Once I'm in the orgasmic zone, I'm experiencing slow deep waves of pleasure that ebb and flow in intensity, seemingly without end. At this point my penis is not even felt as most of my body seems to exist only as a virtual vessel for the warm pleasure pulses surging within.

    @Linum,

I find there is almost no relationship between Aneros arousal and the state of my penis. Most of the time during a session, my penis is flaccid but I do often feeltimes during a session when it feels as if it is rock hard. On most occasions when I feel to check, I find that in spite of feeling hard it is still flaccid.

That is not to say that I never get an erection during a session, I sometimes do and I think that may because I am applying a bit of fantasy! I'm actually not sure and it doesn't seem to bother me.

    Hi guys,

I find the majority answer as of 4/6/13 of "Erect rarely or not at all" to be very interesting. I have been Anerosing for a good ten months now. Since I am now 64 yo, I hardly have any erections during my Aneros sessions. Most of the time my penis is completely limp and flaccid when I Aneros. Yet for a very long time, my sessions on the whole have been extremely pleasurable. However recently, my penis has become plump during sessions.

I resolved very early in my Aneros journey not have expectations of achieving Super-O's and MMO's. Such Aneros blessings will come of their accord someday. I have gotten to the point that I get sexually aroused and horny when I come to a session. And then afterwards there is that Aneros afterglow which makes me long for my next session.

sometimes for me getting rock hard during a session will lead to an awesomely powerful o where it is just like a normal wet o but so much more intense and no ejaculation. Other times i will get so friggin hard it actually hurts and feels like my penis will explode but actually no pleasure will result and no orgasm ensues. I have had the blissful super o and always soft...so many different sensations though i just love them all except being so hard it hurts lol

Thanks guys - I guess the "moral of this story" is that you never know how it is going to turn out, but the absence of an erection, or the presence is not the main point of aneros sessions, at best it is just a footnote.

I am fascinated though that people who have had both erect and non-erect sessions, do appear to recognise differences in the way that sensations manifest themselves.

There are lots of lessons here for new guys to the aneros, who may have expectations about precisely how all this is going to turn out.  There is a lesson here for me too - there is no certainty that even my erection-less aneros sessions will always stay this way.

May i pose the OP's questions in a way that better represents my situation. I find that i am hard during 90% of my sessions. I see that what has been discussed implies that the presence of an erection does not indicate your state of arousal. However Im still slighty unclear as to this, Does having an erection during your sessions, Lower your PONR reducing the  amount of positive feedback loops i can use to raise my arousal. I have tried in vein so far to have a session that i can build my arousal without having an erection, so testing this is still somewhat unavailable to me.

    Thanks

I got the impression that having an erection within an aneros session does indicate (very visually) your state of arousal, but that NOT having an erection does not indicate your lack of arousal.  Arousal can be independent of erection status, but I guess in some people, they can be very much linked. There doesn't appear to be any guarantee that this will ALWAYS stay the same however, as we progress on this journey.

I am not sure what you mean by the use of PONR in the scenario of aneros use.  For me these don't exist except for ejaculations.  Can you expand on that point?

On the whole, having an erection appears neither a benefit nor a dis-benefit, and certainly is not something that should worry you enough to TRY to avoid it. Certainly Clubhard and others find they can have aneros-induced orgasms with an erection, but also without.

Actually, I did just think of a situation where arousal and having an erection are independent of each other - "morning wood".  Perhaps others would like to add comments on whether the presence of an erection within aneros sessions, can be independent of arousal?

    "I

does indicate (very visually) your state of arousal, but that NOT having
an erection does not indicate your lack of arousal."

This is a far better explanation of what was discussed, than i offered.

"I am not sure what you mean by the use of PONR in the scenario of aneros use.  For me these don't exist except for ejaculations.  Can you expand on that point?"

I can. With or without my aneros i am able to raise my arousal within my prostate to the point right before the PONR, and cycle this for as long as i want, Enjoying the pleasurable sensations within. However when i use my aneros, i feel that there is another "arousal" that i can amplify within my anus. Its a less intense deeper feeling coming from close to my tailbone than my prostate. If i focus on this feeling with the aneros in i am able to amplify this anal arousal (which makes my anus warm and buzz), i can create small involuntaries. I do not know, But at this point in time, i think that this second arousal may be the key into the super-o. This is something i have learnt very recently in my journey, and infact just last night i had very strong surges of energy up my spine into my brain, Almost taking over my thought but lasting such a short period that its kinda like im blinking in my mind. This was not accompanied by increase pleasure, however increased involuntaries were very noticeable.

OK so with that in mind, this is the meat and potatos of what i want to get across. When i am building this anal arousal i find that in the background the prostate arousal also builds, I can barely feel it up until around 80% of my PONR, once this kicks in, i realise that im not far from ejaculating, and must stop my focus of anal arousal to prevent ejaculation. I have a few times allowed myself to ejaculate (this is not common for me), to see if i could recycle this arousal after. This was not the case as the refractory period kicked in and dulled all senses of arousal from my body. So back to my original question, If i were to focus my attention on my anal arousal without an erection, can i better seperate the 2 arousals i feel, in order to amplify the anal arousal without ejaculating.

I realise this could be a hard question to answer, as all the information to go off is personal and may not accurately represent the journey of others.

Thanks for that wired - I understand what you mean now.

There have been a few topics posted here on getting ejaculatory orgasms with aneros use, and I suspect you should look for those for some kind of an explanation - you are after all, only one step from being there yourself.  I have a vague notion that this eventually passes, but I am not at all sure what the mechanism was in the first place, or for dealing with it.  It just isn't a problem I have ever had. I think one of the contributors said that it is part of the rewiring process for some men.   There are men out there who would pay good money for a hands-free ejaculation (lol), but I do understand that this isn't what you want at this particular time.

    Good luck with that one

    Hey men,

Once I hit Calm Seas, my penis goes flaccid, as does my general countenance. During a vigorous Super O, I am usually very hard. When it settles down, I go soft. BUT, there are Supers that include no hardness, and down times that find me hard. There doesn't seem to be a regularity about it (except during Calm Seas). That is actually one of the things I love about Aneros sessions, including -less sessions - there is no regularity or sameness. I love to encounter the unexpected. And penile erectness is one of those unexpected things for me.

Interesting thread, Linum. Thanks for creating it.

Linum -  that thread is definetly heading in the right direction for me. I have some reading to do it would seem! (thats half the fun for me anyway). Thank you for the link. also i do realise that HFO are very nice and am very happy with my aneros sessions of late. Most enjoyable. I have had the idea lately that with practise i can raise my prostate arousal and cycle mini-os anywhere i want discreetly. This was appealing to me but of late im starting to think this might be fighting against my rewiring. I realise this takes time also, and perhaps im just not ready yet. Either way i need to gather some more info on this (im also going to look into calm seas?). Thankfully i have the aneros forums to help.

It is interesting to see the poll results so far.

Out of interest, the results accord with my perception of gay porn, where many guys are erection-less whilst being fucked, and relatively few seem to maintain a hard-on all the way through.

    Keep voting guys.

@linum, I've heard before that alot of guys in gay porn are actually straight(gay porn apparently pays better then hetero porn), not sure if this is true or not, but could explain the limp noodles LOL.

    Linum,

I find this thread/poll confusing.   The title of thread asks the question... "Does the presence or absence of an erection change the way that you experience dry orgasms?"  Unfortunately the poll doesn't allow one to respond to this, instead it focuses on whether one is erect or flaccid during their sessions, which is really a separate question.  To be clear, the first is a question about whether someone favors dry orgasms with or without an erection.  The second question is the poll itself that asks whether one is erect or flaccid during orgasms.

It also has to be said that the question posed in the thread title limits the respondents to individuals who experience dry orgasms erect and flaccid, because they would be they only ones qualified to judge such a thing, i.e. how would someone who only has orgasms with erections know what the quality of orgasms without an erection are..and vice versa.  If you wanted to know what effect an erection had on ones experience of a Super-O you might have been better served by giving poll choices such as these:

    1) My dry orgasms are stronger with an erection.
    2) My dry orgasms are stronger when I am flaccid.
    3) The intensity of my orgasms seem unaffected by penile engorgement.
    4) I only experience orgasms with erections.
    5) I am flaccid during all of my orgasms

The last two answers help keep the poll statistically accurate by giving those who should not be responding to the first 3 questions a place to be counted (avoids skewing).    It also provides additional data, that is...how many experience dry orgasms with erection vs. flaccid.  (Was this the information you intended to get in the first place?)

Please understand I'm not trying to give you a hard time.  I'm just thinking that you're not really getting at your original question here.

    Hello, all.

Mayfield made a good point. Nonetheless a reading of this thread provides some indirect answers. Obviously, everyone's experience is unique.

Speaking to the title question, I'm always hard for Dry-Os, which are not really dry since clear fluid pulses out. Never had a Dry-O while limp. On the other hand, I'm almost always soft or slightly chubby during Super-Os.

    Cheers,

    Dave

@B Mayfield.  Thanks for your comments, which I have pondered at length.  You must forgive me for being a relative forum novice, and for not meeting the standards that the forum requires.

Part of my pondering was what it was that motivated me to set up the thread in this way, and since it was a while ago now, and myriads of thoughts have passed through my mind since, this was quite a task.  If you think of the forum title as the main point of the thread, with the poll ideally being placed after the 2nd or even 3rd paragraph, does that help? Unfortunately it seems always to be placed at the head of the thread as if it were somehow the main point, when in fact I saw it as supplementary.  Are polls always to be used as the primary point of a thread - please forgive me again, I hadn't realised that this was forum etiquette?

I did also spend a lot of time pondering your 5 alternatives. Whilst initially I thought them good, a little more thinking did make me realise that trying to capture a potentially infinite range of experiences by a 5-point poll was not going to work.  This is probably why I didn't want to make the poll the main point of the thread.  Forgive me if I am wrong on this too, but can one make feelings and impressions gain a semblance of objectivity by restricting them to the defined characteristics in a poll?  At best, it seems to me, this gives the illusion of objectivity. Strength of dry-orgasm too, is also something that is difficult to compare between people - one man's strong is likely to be another man's weak orgasm. Strength of orgasm was perhaps only one rather crude aspect of the differences we experience that I was hoping to capture, and so far the comments in the body of the thread have been quite illuminating on that matter.

You also said, "To be clear, the first is a question about whether someone favors dry orgasms with or without an erection".

With respect, the first question (the primary question) does not ask any one about which they FAVOUR - I requested no such judgement on that, and left it open to contributors to state what happens. I was particularly keen if at all possible, to avoid value-judgements, and so far contributors generally have.

I am well aware that forum respondents that get dry orgasms whilst flaccid and erect are in a unique position to add to this discussion, and whilst I value all contributions, their insight could be particularly valuable and is not something to shy away from.

@ineverknew - thanks for that - it made me giggle.  You are probably right, certainly as far as the "fuckee" is concerned (as opposed to the "fucker").

My own personal experience mirrors that however.  Most "bottoms" do not seem to maintain an erection whilst being fucked.  It is noteworthy, when someone does.

@ten_s_nut - thanks for that too.  Do you get the sense of your dry-orgasms being like an ejaculation orgasm, without the ejaculation, which is what many forum members refer to?

    Linum;

For me, Dry-Os are very much like regular penile Os with ejac, except the fluid is clear and it doesn't shoot anywhere -- more like a spillover. The bigger difference is the rapid repeat play. Dry-Os follow one another within a minute or two. Typically, 2 to 6 in a row. Then, it's on to Super-O City, sans erection. I don't mean to leave the impression that Dry-Os always precede Super-Os. Over half the time, the sequence is P waves, mini-Os, Super-O.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Linum,

You are certainly free to generate polls in whatever form you wish, lol, there are no requirements or rigid standards here!    I was simply trying to get more clarity on what it was that you were asking.   Yes, most commonly the title of the thread reflects the topic in some way (like a thumbnail of what lies within)....so I assumed that was the case here.  But if you choose to ask one question in the title and another in the body of your thread...it's your prerogative.

Frankly, I thought the thread title presented us with a compelling question, one that hadn't been defined on any quantitative level in any poll as of yet.    I just didn't feel like the poll responses gave one the opportunity to answer it.  I get now that it wasn't your intention.   With respect to my potential responses,  I agree with you "strength of orgasm" was perhaps too constrained as a parameter, but then again I was providing it more for purposes of illustration.   In the event that the thread title was ones primary area of interest, and one wanted to avoid any value judgements on the part of the respondents it occurs to me that the question and answer could be as simple as:

Does the presence or absence of an erection change the way that you experience dry orgasms?

    1) Yes

    2) No

    3) I only experience dry orgasms with an erection.

    4) I am flaccid during all of my dry orgasms.

Just a thought.  Be that as it may, this is your thread and I'm glad that you are happy with the responses and discussion thus far. :-)

    Cheers,

Dave/ten_s_nut - thanks for that extra information.  It confirms my suspicions that regular erections during aneros use, are likely to alter the way that the experience manifests itself.

There is no way that any of my "dry-orgasms" have ever felt like an ejaculatory orgasm without the ejaculation, although it would be nice to experience one like this at some point, in addition to the ones that I already get - "sans erection".

Thanks again - that has been very helpful.
