Going to try the Do Nothing Method, but could use a hint or two
  • I've been playing with my MGX, Lucille, and my Helix, Stella, for about a month now using only the "lie on back, feet on bed, knees bent" position. My sessions have ranged from 30-45 minutes, sometimes more than one a day, sometimes 2-3 days between. I have a fair amount of success reaching P-wave level with the MGX, getting not much more than discomfort from the Helix.

I'm now thinking of trying the Do Nothing method and have some questions.

    1. Is there a distinctly better position for this than another? I believe I read a thread yesterday where someone reported great success on his side, one leg straight, the other bent at 45 degrees.

    2. Do I need to attempt longer sessions with Do Nothing?

    3. Is one toy better than the other for this method?

    4. Does do nothing truly mean just that? No contractions, no encouragement of any kind?

    Thanks.

    Lenny Bruce,

That's good to hear you are achieving P-waves with your MGX, please don't be concerned about achieving the same results with your Helix. The Aneros journey is an individual adventure and even though you have limited responses from the Helix now, in six months you may find it to be a newly rediscovered joy.

The do nothing is a passive approach wherein a relaxed and comfortable body position is likely to produce the best results.[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47159]1. Is there a distinctly better position for this than another? Different men will find different body positions useful, everyone will have their favorites so you are best advised to try out different ones to find what works best for you.2. Do I need to attempt longer sessions with Do Nothing?Being patient with yourself and allowing sufficient time for your body to relax and the sensations to emerge is important but there is no specific time line one should "...attempt...". When you really get in tune with your body you will know fairly quickly if your current session has the possibility of developing into a good one. If you try to simply extend a lackluster session it will serve no purpose, remember you can not force your prostate into action or think that you can out wait it to respond. 3. Is one toy better than the other for this method?IMHO, NO. The Aneros journey is 90%+ a mental journey, the particular massager you are using has very little influence on the outcome of an individual Anerosession.4. Does do nothing truly mean just that? No contractions, no encouragement of any kind?NO, while it is a more passive approach, some of the same conditions you would use in a more conventional session still apply. A comfortable environment free of distractions is still important, the use of relaxing music can be useful as well. Occasional light caresses or very light contractions may be employed as subtle triggers but the idea is to get you to become more focused and aware of the subtle sensations your body produces on its own.
  • Thanks, Rumel. A bit of further research tells me that Disc 2 of HypnAerosession works well with the Do Nothing approach. I'll download it later today and give it a whirl. (It also seems that the Aneros website is showing out of stock for the download as well as the CD, but that CD Baby has it by download.)

I have been a user on and off for 3+ years. I have had some great success with the position of on back, knees up and feet flat on bed. In the beginning of my journey I was a "do something" person meaning I actively did manual pc/kegel contractions and this eventually after many sessions started the involuntary contractions. Overtime I was able to get the involuntary contractions to start with the "do nothing" approach.recently, withing the last month, I tried a new position, which is the one you mentioned. On back, left leg out straight, with the right knee pointing out to the right and the sole of my right foot resting near my left knee/upper calf. This new position has been a god send for my journey. while I had lots of pleasure and dry-o's and body shaking/full body orgasms in my first position, this new position has really changed my pleasure for the better. I feel I get more prostate contact with my helix and got close to the super-o (I think I got there for about a minute the other day). I am now in the do nothing camp, but I feel beginners have to teach your body by doing manual contractions and once your body understands what is going on, then you can mentally get them going yourself. I also add in nipple play once the involuntary contractions start and that really gets the session rocking. The lesson here is to experiment with different positions/techniques and even models. After 3 years, I am still learning.Hope that helps a little.David

I do best on my back also, bsmith14. For those beginning, I would suggest relaxing and taking the "do nothing" approach in general, but with lightly holding a PC contraction, like you would use to gently cut off urine focusing on your urinary sphincter and not your anus, all the while doing some light nipple tickling. This usually brings on sensations quickly.
  • Am I the only smartass that read that and thought, "Hmmm...do nothing approach...hint or two...Hint 1: Do nothing. Hint 2: Do nothing." :P I'm sorry, I'm just being a total smartass. :D I'd offer some genuine advice, but you have some great guys already giving you a few nice bits to chew on. Instead, I'll provide the humorous interjection and hope you find it comical and cute instead of douche baggery. ;)

Just my two cents, but I seemed to ramp up my progress when I started to slightly lift my pelvis in the position that you refer to. As for contractions, I just try to keep a fairly neutral contraction and just ever so slowly lift my pelvis or slightly arch my back. You should feel some tingling sensations pretty quick thay will eventually give way to Super O material. Good luck!
  • A busy boy today. Started the day early with the traditional, "relax, breathe, contract" routine. I downloaded HypnAerosession from CD Baby last night and decided to give it a whirl. I lasted about an hour before the need to evacuate put an untimely end to my session. (I'm going to have to reduce the amount of lube I inject, or switch.) It was a successful session otherwise, a few P-Waves, and a good lesson in relaxation and breath to take forward.

Several hours later I decided to try again, Do Nothing, with the second disc of HypnAerosession in my ears. I spent about half an hour flat on my back, legs spread, and got some involuntary twitching almost immediately. (I think my prostate is still feeling some stimulation from early AM.) After half an hour, I raised my knees and the twitching got a little stronger. I think following RedMan's lead, adding a slight pelvis lift and neutral contraction, and starting from the knees bent position will kick things into higher gear pretty quickly.

Where I'm really gaining ground is at holding back on expectation and letting things proceed at their own pace.

I am having one significant problem and it was this problem that put an end to my second session today. The need to pee kicks in as soon as I start to leak pre-cum. It over-rides the pleasure and I'm not able to ride it out so within a few minutes of its starting, I have to stop and pee.

To all those replying, thanks and thanks again.

    Lenny Bruce,

First, thanks for purchasing "HypnAerosession" my guided Anerosession. However, I would recommend you use disc#1 for a half dozen sessions first to get the relaxation steps thoroughly anchored, then move onto the second disc.

Regarding the urge to urinate this is actually a good sign. It is a good idea to abstain from drinking any fluids for about an hour before starting your Anerosession, then immediately before the session, completely empty your bladder. Thence, when you feel that urge to urinate, you will know this effect is being caused by your massager making good contact with your prostate. The feeling will gradually subside and may even transform into a very gentle feeling of warmth. Just continue to relax on through the feeling, if you are concerned about accidentally urinating (which you won't) just place a couple of folded towels beneath you as insurance. As you get more experienced, the urge to urinate feeling will probably diminish to just a short momentary sensation upon initial Aneros insertions, then you can really start to enjoy that sense of 'leaking' pre-cum.
  • I've been practicing for about one year; mostly utilizing the "do nothing method." I feel like I have had good results from the outset, but no progression.I have been through most of the stages, body and muscle spasms, leaking, involuntaries, p-waves, mind tingling, eyes fluttering, HFWO. However, I always seem to be riding the wave the never crests. The feeling is awesome, but no what I would consider a dry orgasm and definitely not a Super O. Sometimes I question whether or not I have had a dry O and just didn't realize it. Will I know for sure if it happens or is the wave I have riding the dry O and I just haven't conceptualized it as such?

[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47159]1. Is there a distinctly better position for this than another? I believe I read a thread yesterday where someone reported great success on his side, one leg straight, the other bent at 45 degrees.

I'm not sure if it's my own post you're referring to but I have tried that. I laid on my right, my right leg at 90 degrees and the left leg straight down as though standing. I have over the last few sessions changed it to both legs being bent at 45 degrees and am having much more success, so it could be worth trying at least.

[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47159]2. Do I need to attempt longer sessions with Do Nothing?

I personally have found that I'm getting initial feelings within the first few minutes. After about 10-15 more it livens up from there. Most of my sessions are about 90 minutes.

[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47159]3. Is one toy better than the other for this method?

Pass, I only have the MGX. Although, from the marked progress I feel as though I'm getting having changed to the above position over the last few sessions, I'm toying with the idea of getting a new model. I'm not sure yet though, so will probably stick with what I have for a bit.

[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47159]4. Does do nothing truly mean just that? No contractions, no encouragement of any kind?

Yes, for me at least. I just lay there and perform diaphramatic breathing. Sometimes I forget for a little while and notice that things have stopped but they start up again after a few more proper breaths. I did however, try holding some contractions of various intensities which lead to some pleasurable feelings. I also find the MXG gets sucked in by itself and lock into place after holding for 10 seconds or so.

As slimjm mentioned, it's a very slight penile contraction, not an anal contraction. They're two different things. Practice in your spare time at work, walking, driving, whenever...on the difference. They are each controlled by different muscles, so you might need to literally train them. However they both have their place with the aneros.

Doing nothing is harder than it sounds. Just think of the old Bachman Turner Overdrive lyric, " I love to work at nothing all day.."

    Hello, gents.

As mentioned above in this thread, "Do Nothing" isn't entirely passive, and can be very challenging to accomplish. Breathing deeply, evenly and slowly is relatively easy, but fully relaxing muscles that are not under conscious control is tricky. I found it to be very difficult and I've had plenty of Yoga and Zen training that focused on stillness, relaxation, mind-clearing, centering and all the rest. No doubt, that training helped. Do Nothing has been a successful technique for me.

I'd wager that for most guys, the active contraction method is the easier thing to do since we all know how to "do something." And if doing something makes the Aneros work for you, stick with it. The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.

    Cheers,

    Dave
  • A pretty enjoyable, yet ultimately somewhat frustrating session to start this day. I awoke early, turned up the bedroom heat from my sleeping temperature of 15c/65f to 23c/73f, prepared the room, injected my butt with 4 cc of ID Glide, slathered same all over Lucille (the MGX) and found her a nice comfy spot in the shade. Lying down on my back, knees bent, feet on the mattress, I cued "Alana" and tuned in.

Paying careful attention and following each and every one, I found the stimulation my breathing provided Lucille quite enough to get me increasingly aroused as she moved through the "Starting" and "Building" tracks. By the time she got to "Touching" I was chomping at the bit. Somewhere along the line, my breathing was met with some gentle lifting of my pelvis, which only aroused me more. Next came "Contractions" and, while still aroused and being pleased, the level now dropped.

Why? I have some ideas, but am curious to hear what others, particularly Rumel, might have to say. 1) When the contraction phase kicked in, I was having trouble both contracting and maintaining focus on my breathing. My sense is that, up to now, I haven't realized the importance of keeping a steady breathing pattern. 2) I was too busy listening to Alana and not paying enough attention to what my body was telling me. Once Alana had me fully aroused and relaxed, I might have been better off following my body's cues and contracting (or not) on my own schedule rather than hers. 3) Both of the above.

Lenny Bruce,[QUOTE=Lenny Bruce;47223]A pretty enjoyable, yet ultimately somewhat frustrating session to start this day. Hmmm, it sounds like Mistress Lucille is starting to develop a Tease & Denial relationship with you. imageBy the time she got to "Touching" I was chomping at the bit. Somewhere along the line, my breathing was met with some gentle lifting of my pelvis, which only aroused me more. Next came "Contractions" and, while still aroused and being pleased, the level now dropped. Why?P-wave generation is not necessarily a linear progression, within the time span of any Anerosession there is likely to be an erratic ebb and flow of sensations, this is perfectly normal and to be expected. In KSMO practice this would be called "regression to the mean". You are early on in your Aneros journey, experiencing many new sensations and feelings, the first time you encounter these situations it may all feel very strange and illogical. For our logical male consciousness this poses unsettling conundrums. I hope you won't fall into the trap of trying to analyze these sensations during an Anerosession, image it is pointless and self defeating to do so. You will have plenty of time after a session to analyze and de-brief your experience.1) When the contraction phase kicked in, I was having trouble both contracting and maintaining focus on my breathing. My sense is that, up to now, I haven't realized the importance of keeping a steady breathing pattern.Yeah it is sort of like learning to rub your belly while patting your head at the same time and like many learned behaviors, repeated practice will make it almost automatic. Good breathing technique is a fundamental aspect of many life activities as practitioners of yoga will attest. Tantric sexual practices also encourage good breathing techniques to enhance the sexual experience. It is not uncommon to read comments from your fellow Anerosians about forgetting to breathe as their pleasure waves ramped up. Deep valley breathing has multiple benefits beyond merely oxygenating the blood, it helps to relax the body and the increased diaphragm movement serves to subtly move the prostate itself over your massager even when you are not applying conscious contractions, so always remember to b r e a t h e.image 2) I was too busy listening to Alana and not paying enough attention to what my body was telling me. Once Alana had me fully aroused and relaxed, I might have been better off following my body's cues and contracting (or not) on my own schedule rather than hers.It is absolutely essential for you to listen to your own body's language and the messages it is sending you. There are obvious limitations to the effctiveness of a pre-recorded script such as is employed in "HypnAerosession". What was recorded is but one possible path available to you, by no means is it the only path nor should you feel compelled to follow the suggestions strictly. You need to understand "HypnAerosession" was originally conceived under the supposition of utilizing the practice regime employing the more active, exercising contractions method not the "Do Nothing" approach. As such, the developed script is slanted in that direction and tries to bring the listener along in a gentle linear progression. Once you have learned to consistently get into a good relaxed state of mind and body from use of disc#1 then using disc#2 will be effective in either the conventional contractions driven or the "Do Nothing" modes of practice.

So much of the Aneros journey involves nuanced emotional feelings and subtle sensations which are particularly difficult to describe in words as I am certain you are now realizing, your intuition is correct about listening to what your body is whispering to you. Stay open and receptive and enjoy the pleasurable energy your body will generate.image

regarding the sense of leaking pre-cum. i have noticed that i am discharging more pre-cum then in my past sessions. i feel more aroused around my anus and it seems more easier to start involuntaries of my sphinster muscles. i am using the helix and my sessions are every 3 days. should consider my journey improving ? is discharging more pre-cum a good thing ?

just two quick questions in lieu of 'lying on the back' position.
is it necessary to remove the handle in trying the 'lying-on-the-back' position?
also, the P-tabs do not touch the pelindrum at all on lying-on-the-back position and is it normal?

    thank you.
  • Ansi,
You'll want to either remove the handle or prop your butt up with a pillow in such a fashion that the handle is not in contact with the mattress. You don't want the handle to either move your toy or inhibit your ability to move it yourself.

i see. so it's inevitable, eh?
what about P-tab-not-touching issue? would my posture be the problem?

I was reluctant to remove the tail so I borrowed a heat gun and set the air temp to 150*C and found I was able to slowly bend the tail into a circle so it was near the middle of the Helix. It is a slow and gentle process, step by step until the curl is right. I did this because my "do nothing" in the evening session can put me to sleep for several hours. With the modification I have no problems with the helix or MGX touching the mattress when I lie on my back. Modifying it this was also gives me a handle and a back restrictor that keeps the Aneros angle good for me. *This will only work with acetal plastic which melt temp is 160*C. *A hair dryer does it a bit but doesn't erase the aneros shape memory.
  • Sounds good - but I think a lot of people on this thread and others who've bought Aneros would like to have a practical course on how to use it. Maybe something in a hotel or country house somewhere over a weekend. It would bring a lot of Aneros enthuasiasts together to pool experiences and maybe Aneros could bring along some of their latest products for us to try.

If you're going to 'do nothing', it has to be natural. The anticipation (planning a session) is more than likely going to drive away possible sensations and feelings. That's often why I just decide on whether or not to use the Aneros after about 15-30 minutes of resting in bed.
