Bad idea to not ejaculate?

I`ve been holding off ejaculation for 5 days ,in hopes of seeing better results with the aneros. I was under the impression that the aneros was designed to massage the prostate , a substitute for ejaculation. That doesnt seem to be the case, i still have a slight "urge" and have gotten "blue balls" really easy.

I know you're suppose to ejaculate to maintain prostate health, but if i refrain from ejaculating and use the aneros instead, will that be OK for my prostate health?

Is there a way to get rid of blue balls once you got it? would ejaculating even help at that point?

I don't ever recall reading that the aneros was a substitue for ejaculation?
you don't mention your age and I feel that makes a difference. when I was a young buck I could ejaculate several times a day. maybe I could still do it now, but I don't have the desire to. I don't agree with the statement that ejaculation is necessary for prostrate health as I have practiced seman conservation in the last couple years and find that it helps keep the edge I need for great sessions.
Can't help you out with the "blue balls" question as I never had that issue.... would seem to me that ejaculation would take care of that. Certainly one way to find that out.

As to the blue balls I'd just try periodically ejaculating "gently", that is without forcefully trying to have strong contractions during ejaculation. Blue balls is said to be a reflux flow of the pressure building within the prostate and seminal vesicles when they aren't "relieved" down into the testicles. Some guys experience this with abstinence and sexual arousal without "relief" more so than others. I feel it more in my prostate area than my testicles when I experience it.

They say regular ejaculation improves general prostate health and that seems intuitive though I don't think there are many studies that provide detailed proof. My urologist says have it at least once a week in the mid-aged years. Like thhn, when I was a young buck there was no worry of ever even going that long.

As to the abstinence to make Aneros sessions better, I wouldn't get hung up on it. I think for most guys Aneros sessions seem to be better if you wait a little while after traditional sex but not necessarily if you make that wait prolonged. When I'm intensely horny for traditional sex I'm too distracted by that urgent feeling for the Aneros induced sensations to develop and intensify. Almost everyone has a "cycle" that feels right at whatever age for them as to having desire for traditional sex and the times in between during which Aneros massage is satisfying and arousing.

I agree that you need to determine "your cycle" and what works for you. That comes with time and what works for others may not be for you. My feeling is that age plays a big part of it. Myself (mid 50's) I need to go at least a couple days between sessions. Sex with the wife depends on wheather I ejaculate or not. I make an effort not to, but Mrs thhn has her ways of spoiling my plans.

    legace;

Look up prostate health and ejaculation, or ejaculation and increased risk of prostate cancer.

Mid 50's here too, thhn, and a couple days between sessions is about right for me too. Even when I enjoy sex with my wife I don't necessary "come" each time depending on whether or not I "want it" at the time. What a neat way this has been to keep sexual responsiveness "up" between times with the Mrs.

i don't recommend avoiding ejaculating. doing so is not gonna accelerate your aneros responsiveness. you might reduce your frequency, for example from daily to every other day. but unnaturally long withholding is not gonna help, and might cause discomfort and too much mental anguish.

yes, if you ejaculate you'll probably feel better.

by the way my urologist doesn't put any credence in ejaculation frequency relating to cancer. he says that was from only one study long ago, which is not enough to establish anything reliable.

Thanks guys. decided to just do my normal routine and work in the aneros around it.

    Legace,

I have had a lot of good experience and results with retention and "blue balls" both with and without using an Aneros. My wife and I deliberately do this on occasion (like when one of us is out of town...) PM me if you want. Would be glad to share. Pressed for time right now or I would elaborate here.

I think it's even impossible to prove this causal coherence with a study because it would be very costly and unehtical. The only type of study that can prove this is a prospectively designed study with randomization so you'd have to randomly divide people into study- and control group, impose specific ejaculation constraints on either of those groups and observe them for a life long to get final results.
All kinds of other studies can only tell you if those things are correlated which is a way weaker conclusion.

I'd just like to add that I too find being very horny is counterproductive, and I will suffer from blue all syndrome too. After about 3 days without ejaculating, I might as well have sex, or a wank, since it is not possible for me to relax enough for the aneros to do its stuff.

On the otherhand, I find I wank less since I acquired the aneros than I did before - previously at least once per day, but now every 2 or 3 days. I had a recent gap in aneros use when I couldn't get enough "privacy" and my wanking frequency went back up to once per day. Perhaps this should be the subject of another thread?
