Hello People, :)

So my recent jar of Now Foods shea butter has been very crumbly. While the melted the texture is gloriously slick and creamy, trying to get a chunk of it rectally inserted and also spread on the Aneros was a pain and usually resulted in crumbs of shea butter every where. I used about ¼ of the jar that way hoping it would get better further into the jar. Nope. So I finally decided to once again to try heating up, melting, and stirring it. And it was a fantastic success! The trick is to do it very gently without over heating it. (From my past experience, accidentally over heating it in the microwave increases it's viscosity and melting temperature, and I didn't like how it performed afterwards.) I chose to put the uncovered jar in a pot of water on medium-low heat on my electric stove top. I set the timer for ten minutes. When I came back it was partially melted. I started stirring, and as I did this the un-melted chunks started to melt. I took it off the stove and just used the residual heat from the pot of water. I was able to completely melt it this way. Then I let it harden at room temperature for 24 hours.

The end result is great! Shea butter that stays together when scooped out, yet the melted texture is the same thick, creamy, and slippery. It so much easier to insert and apply with less waste. So give this a try if your shea butter is crumbly.

Well my Shea butter arrived today. its like in the upper 90s here and it sat in a metal box all day so when I got to it, it was the consistency of soup. So I stirred it and stuck it in the fridge. Hopefully its consistency is gonna be ok. Room temp in this house is like 77 so I figured the fridge was a good place for it. I'll let you know how the session goes the first time I get to use it.

Well that didnt go well. I used to balls of butter slightly larger than the ball on the p-tab on a progasm inserted them and then used some on the progasm. Things were going well at first but then I started to get a burning sensation at first I thought maybe I was to dry and that was causing the problem I added some more, but I think I just have an adverse reaction to the shea, guess its just my body. Had to cut my session short.

Hey Vinestal... Sorry to hear about the sting.

To my knowledge we've never had anyone produce an adverse reaction to shea. I think you are first in the wounded warrior line for shea.

My own wife, who has skin allergies, has used my unrefined shea to soothe radiation burns and has found it equal to the best of skin lotions like Lindi Skin.

Take a good whiff of that shea butter. If it's been perfumed or an astringent has been added (possibly for cosmetic use), you might consider tossing it. OTOH, you might attempt to save it by gently heating it and holding it at 175-180 degrees for five to ten minutes -- then cool it back to room temp.

Then take another whiff and apply a spot of butter to a forearm. If it passes those tests try a more sensitive spot on the bod and progress to the more sacred areas.

Hello Vinestal, :)

I'm so sorry to hear of your poor results with shea butter.
Like Rook said, your the first we've ever heard of this reaction to known good 100% unrefined shea butter of the pale yellow to white color. As far as feeling like you are too dry internally... You will know if you are lubed well enough internally if at the end of your session the Aneros comes out covered in a thin film of melted creamy shea butter. In addition, you should be able to sit on the toilet and push/squeeze out the shea butter in you.

But since you've had some similar reactions with other lubes I have to ask some questions:

Where exactly do you experience the burning sensations, and at what point. Meaning is it immediately after insertion of the lube? Or after the insertion of the Progasm? Can you feel exactly what is burning in your body?

Do you eat hot/spicy foods on a daily basis? In my own experience this can cause anal burning and discomfort. And makes Aneros sessions quite uncomfortable. As opposed to the occasional hot/spicy meal I can get away with no problems.

Have you tried giving yourself a rectal rinse before an Aneros session? Perhaps there is some fecal matter in the way.

Otherwise, I wonder if perhaps you have have damaged, or are experiencing some health problems in your anus, rectum, or prostate. As a last resort, you might want to look into having those areas checked out by a doctor.

Vinestal,

Since I have known nut and food allergies here's what I did with shea butter, and indeed any new fruit or vegetable that I try for the first time. I took a little shea butter and spread a very thin film on my teeth so that a little touched my gums. My lips and gums are sensitive to my allergies and any hint of itching, tingling or swelling means that food or product is a no go.

Shea butter passed this initial test and I subsequently broke off slightly larger chunk and chewed it without swallowing. After that I was able to use shea butter with piece of mind.

I believe that almost all unrefined, unscented shea butter is minimally processed and that helps me also. I can eat applesauce but not fresh apples for instance.

Good luck in your search,

Love its possible that the burning was from something I ate. Im gonna give it another go next session I think. Ive never known myself to be allergic to anything. The burning was around my prostrate every time I contracted my PC muscles it was more extreme. Ive had another session sense using slippery stuff with no issues. Ive gotten the urge to go thing with lubes that contain glycerin so Ive tried to avoid those. This butter is very close to white when cool. Its also already been warmed and mixed once. The consistency was not an issue. Its also not a health issue, I recently had a prostrate check at my urologist. I think I gotta give this another shot.

Hello Vinestal, :)

Ultimately everyones experience is bound to be different in some ways. It's hard for me to imagine that someone would have a bad reaction to shea butter that wasn't allergy related. Particularly since the Slipperystuff Gel caused no problems for you. The only other thing that occurs to me is wondering if you have reached the point in your Aneros sessions where your anal muscles are completely relaxed such that you hardly notice the Aneros in you and it causes no discomfort. If your a new user that has not gotten to this point yet, then perhaps this may be the problem you are experiencing. I think like you said, you need to keep trying until you figure out what the issue is.

I inserted a little last night just by itself not during a session and felt no ill effects. I think that may have just been a fluke thing. Gotta refrigerate though if its not cold it melts before I can get it in. I cant imagine not feeling the aneros especially the progasm I'm certainly not to that point yet. The burning was a first for me though and hasn't happened before or since.
Love its possible that the burning was from something I ate. ....

Strong probability. Several weeks ago I was enjoying an impromptu (doucheless) early morning session and experienced some burning. I took a couple of minutes to realize it was the result of an error I'd made 18 hours earlier.

At lunch, I'd reached for a bottle of Louisana Hot Sauce but accidently grabbed a bottle of Texas Pete HOT. Went ahead and enjoyed the two tacos.

Got to savor the burn a second time. :) Moral to the story -- The Aneros experience amplifies everything.

Bingo -- that'll work. Last week someone mentioned forming soft Shea into "finger shaped" pieces and chilling them until they were firm enough to handle like a suppository.

Early on I wanted the same thing and I resurrected an old bullet mold. I produced a bunch of .38 caliber shea butter bullets. Same problem though. They had to be kept quite cold until insertion. As soon as I'd start to handle them, they'd melt.

I finally decided that it's just easier, quicker, less messy and less wasteful to inject soft or melted shea.

quick look at eBay had several. Search **bullet mold** . If you've not been into reloading, do some reading on that first so that you select a workable mold for a suitable shape (ball) and mass (more will be better) of bullet. (we're not looking for blunt nosed bullets here and you'll not need something with the leverage to compress lead). A search for ** suppository mold ** only produced items aimed at the antique ($$$) medicine or small pharmacy production customer.

Honestly, I think a homemade lube shooter and softened Shea or Gel is easier. However, there's a lot to be said for doing something that's a turn-on--perhaps shoving in several .45 cal slugs of shea might be a great form of Aneros foreplay ;)

What do you use as a homemade lube shooter? Ive been using a medicinal syringe its like a syringe without a needle basically but theres a spot near the end that make insertion difficult. Id be interested in what others are using.

Posted a couple of days ago as item #4 in -- http://www.aneros.com/forum/f5/question-about-natural-jelly-internal-application-14656/ --

I didn't like much about small the enema tip on the standard shooter and it wasn't suited to semi-soft shea butter. Advantage in this one is that coming out of the shotglass it's well lubed and easy to insert (particularly if there's some lube left over from douching). It also offers some dilation which seems to improve lube distribution and makes tool insertion a piece of cake. At first I thought it large however, it's only 1/8" larger than the douche pipe on our shower adapter and the shape is about the same.

If you make one of these, size the orifice so that it's large enough to easily suck-up and discharge partially softened shea butter but not so large to snag your outer sphincter when you insert. It's all in the polishing.

Operation: Remember to bear down against it as you would Progasm. Then, a tiny squeeze on the plunger as it's opening the outer sphincter. Shove it on in a couple of inches before emptying it. That gives you a good shea coating on the sphincters and another glob on up the canal.

I made two of these in December and am still using both. Easy cleanup with Dawn anti-bacterial or Dial liquid and warm watter. Occasional soak in some hydrogen peroxide followed by a rinse in tap water.

Ive been using 5ml syringes they seem to work fine with slipery stuff so I dont know why they wouldnt work with shea. Sounds like your using something slightly larger. Im not really understanding how your adapting it exactly, but the 5ml syringes seem to work fairly well just a little rough inserting them.

The problem I had was that the thick shea butter wouldn't draw easily into the syringe due to the small I.D. and length of the enema tip on the shooter I bought. There was also some wasted butter that had to be cleaned up which led me to pipe cleaners etc. etc.

I wanted to cut the pointy adapter off the end of the barrel and enlarge the opening. Decided I'd start with something cheaper in case I screwed up the job.

Ive used the Shea in a couple more sessions one that lasted a good 3 hours and Shea showed no signs of wearing down. Its good stuff Id recommend it. It just takes a little longer to set up than what using slippery stuff would. I usually keep it at room temp then put it in a syringe and when Im ready to use it I put it under hot running water, then its good to go.
• I now have some 100% unrefined shea butter which arrived in this mornings post and can't wait for tonight to try it out as a lube. Just smoothing a piece around my fingers it feels fantastic.

A question though:

I enjoy 'wearing' my Peridise throughout the day sometimes. Would shea butter be OK for this or can it run and stain underwear?

After a couple of years of use I have only noticed staining on my tighty whiteys (but then again, who doesn’t?). All other towels, sheets and underwear remain stain free.

I also keep a separate set of boxers for daytime walkabout sessions – all black.

My main laundry tools to fight all stains of this nature are Citrisolve for oily stains and hydrogen peroxide for organic stains.

Hope this helps,

Hello Geezer UK, :)

Congratulations!!!! I hope this works out well for you. :D

The Now Foods shea butter I use is fairly thick in it's melted at body temperature state. But if you have enough excess shea butter in your crack, it will run. In addition, as you move and sit and such, your underwear is bound to come in contact with it. Perhaps wiping the area for excess lube would be helpful.
As I've found that shea butter can stain material. There are several stains on my towel that I lay over my bed for Aneros sessions. Although I can't remember if these stains were from the dark yellow shea butter I tried a while back, or not. And perhaps how much work you put into pre-treating the stain prior to washing has an effect. I've never worked all that hard to remove them as it is just a sex towel. ;) Thinking back though, I did get some of the Now foods shea butter in my underwear from an Aneros sitting experiment at one point. As I recall, I pre-treated the stain before washing, and it still came out with a slight dark spot in the material. But it must have washed out over repeated washings because I don't remember having seen them recently. I wash my colored clothes in cold water though, so it probably has less effect on the stain if it can't melt out the oil. Perhaps running the stain under hot water in the sink prior to washing might help rinse away the majority of the oil.

//////////// \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ //////////////

Last week I mixed up my monthly batch of lube, 1/3 Coconut Oil and 2/3 Shea Butter. I usually heat this to 175deg F. to 'kill off' any 'stray' stuff like Salmonella. It takes a 20 second zap in the microwave to do this deed on 50ml of lube by getting it to 175deg (80deg C.). Usual result is a slightly grainy-looking lube until it melts at body temp.

This time I accidently hit the button on the microwave and when I checked on how it was doing the temp had skyrocketed to the top of the thermometer. Was concerned that I'd spoiled the lube but proceeded to portion it out among my eight 'single-serving' shot glasses. Noticed that as it cooled it didn't become granular.

Result -- when cooled to room temperature it's the best, creamiest, smoothest, most luxurious lube I've ever used. Sucks into the lube shooter easily. Made Progasm as easy to ride as Helix.

Don't know how hot the mixture got. Certainly below the smoke point of the two oils (about 350deg.F for coconut oil and 320deg F. for unrefined Sheanut butter). So next month, I'll use a thermometer with a wider range, aim for 250deg. F., and see if I get the same creamy result.

The linked video is close to how I blend the two oils; however, the lady making the cosmetic stuff doesn't use a thermometer.

The first batch she makes approaches the 'creamy' mixture I get. (she claims to be proportioning it 1/4 Coconut to 3/4 Shea) But, even chilled mine is softer. The second part of the clip shows a grainy shea+coconut mix. Probably the result of not warming the oils together -- it also illustrates a shea butter that's not filtered adequately before being packaged for sale (brown stuff in the strainer) -- something that Love_is has cautioned against.

Tip: avoid the flavoring/perfuming agents. Peppermint oil is a bowel irritant, a common additive in castile enema soap -- a gross mistake in an anal lube. Whoosh ---> oops --> :{

Shea Butter, a non-tropical nut oil, should be a poly-unsaturated fat (the gud stuff) but Coconut Oil is 100% saturated fat (the not-great stuff). My HDL blood work is always over 72 so I don't sweat the small amount of saturated fat I inject each week. If one is fighting high total cholesterol or has a low HDL, a straight Shea Butter lube might be a better choice. Alternative: stick with the Coconut Oil additive and run/jog/bike/swim enough to convert your LDL into HDL. Fringe benefit -- some reports indicate that saturated fat supports increased Testosterone levels.

Thanks Rook for moving your post. I think it will be helpful to more people if this type of information is not spread out over several threads.
I find it interesting that overheating both oils together produced a better textured and performing lube. And ideas as to why this would be?
Where as when I accidentally did that with just shea butter alone. It produced an oil that had a higher melting point. So that at body temperature, it was not completely in a liquid melted state. It still worked and I used it. But it certainly did not perform as good as shea butter normally would.

No sweat moving the post. "Anyime Baby !"

About the lube: I took qual and quant in college but didn't take organic chem so am only guessing. Suspicion would that we are dealing with not just two, but rather a multitude of complex molecules that "misbehave" differently as temp is changed. And there may be just some simple inorganic stuff in these vegetable fats that acts as a catalyst. Then, temperature affects how they "fit" together. If that's the case, a coconut grown in Fiji might do different magic than a Coconut grown in the P.I. AKA, ",... the cussedness of inanimate objects."

OTOH, I can only call it witchcraft, cauldron wizardry or black magic. Right now I'm happy, possessing 5 shots left of the nice creamy stuff. ;)

Hope would be that alv has some better answers and knows a magic temp that works every time.

I mix using double pan method - or rather place the jar into a pan of boiling water - this way the temperature cannot exceed 100deg C or 212deg F

I now have a nice trick for lubing, spread the silky cocunut/shea cream onto aneros, dip the aneros into iced water for a minute or two, the lube goes stone hard and melts were it is needed instead of being squeegeed off and lubing your bum-crack were it is definitely not needed.

Concerning health risks of coconut oil, those are unfounded but unfortunately the damage was done by false information. Coconut are Medium Fatty Chain Acids (MFCA)against Long LFCA of other animal and vegetable fats - the MFCA are said to be beneficial wereas the LFCA are the badies. Suggest that, anywhere you shop, buy brandnames that have favorable mention in this thread. You can also search the web for Unrefined Shea Butter.

Avoid the refined product and avoid anything that's advertised for external use or exclusively for skin care. If you buy at a Health Food store try to sniff he product. If it's perfumed, avoid it. Remember, some of what you put up your ass will wind up in your blood stream, in your liver and in your brain.

I've bought from eBay, Amazon and one of their 'partner stores' all have been good. So far I've stuck with the brands mentioned here and all have been good.

If you have a consistently good experience with a particular brand of lube, please post here. tks.... rook

Yes it is. This is the brand I use and enjoy. It's certainly understandable you might have some confusion about this. As it seems the company has changed their name from “Now Foods”, to “Now Solutions” and still uses the nowfoods.com web address. On top of that, they changed the packaging of their shea butter somewhat recently, but their own web site still displays the older packaging.

The older packaging:
NOW Foods - Shea Butter - 7 oz.

The newer packaging:
Buy NOW Foods - Shea Butter 100% Natural - 7 oz. at LuckyVitamin.com
Edit:
(This is not a recommendation for this web site. I've never ordered through them, so I can't verify that they are good people to deal with. I just chose them as they had the correct picture of the newer packaging.)

However, i did not feel any sensations. Is it becuse I am not experienced enought and I am using too big a tool?

I apologize for not directly answering this question. I feel like this would take this particular thread off topic. I recommend that you read through the Aneros WIKI if you have not already.
Aneros Main Page - Aneros Wiki

And also browse or search through the forum here, as there are many threads here about new users wondering why nothing amazing or pleasurable happens the first few sessions. If you still don't find the answers to your questions, then post a new thread with your specific question(s).

I will get a smaller Aneros and put my "PG" on the side till I figure this whole thing out. I enjoy anal play, my wife sometimes plays with my Butt with vibrators and she know how much I love it. She enjoys it when I get nuts from it but I hesitate telling her about this typy of toy. This seems to be more of a solo toy as opposed to a sex toy we can play with during lovemaking. Am I wron in not tellling her? We have no other real secretes, that I know of, but I feel like i'm cheatng.

Hello StiflersDad, :)

I'm not sure if it is possible to have too much lubrication. (Within limits obviously) You're not trying to fill your rectum with lube. But you certainly can use too much in the sense of wasting the lube and having more of a monetary expense through using it up quicker. You just have to experiment with what amount is just enough for you.

As for your other questions, it's not that I don't want to answer them. But this particular thread is about unrefined shea butter and it's usage. So I don't want this thread diluted with off topic discussions. I highly recommend that you create your own thread and ask your other questions there. Thank you. :)

• I am a newbie but have found my first several sessions enjoyable. From the start I used shea butter, but the first couple of sessions were rather messy trying to insert the shea. Sad to say, but I spent some time thinking of different "delivery" systems. Well, I think I found something that meets my goals of low cost with little waste and hygienic. I did not want to reuse something after where it had been :)

The answer: a straw! I stuck the straw into room temp shea a couple of time to create several inches of shea. Squeezed the end of the straw to provide approx one inch of empty space to allow me to pinch the straw for easier insertion. Inserted the straw and basically squeezed the shea out of the straw. The little bit that was left on my finger and thumb was used to coat the aneros.

Hope this helps others.

Hello JustWannaPlay,

Welcome to the Aneros forums! :)

What a great idea! It shows there are all sorts of ways to work with using shea butter. Thank you for posting what works for you.

From the start I used shea butter, but the first couple of sessions were rather messy trying to insert the shea.

I don't know if you've read the earlier posts in this thread... But most users get around this problem by refrigerating their shea butter. Shea butter starts to melt around 76F/24.4C degrees. So if you live in a hot climate, or are experiencing hot summer months, you might try this and avoid having to use straws. It makes it quite hard, and then you can use a small spoon or knife to break some chunks out. Some users like to heat up the spoon or knife so it is a clean cut and likely a singular piece of shea butter that comes out. But I don't personally do this. This make insertion in the rectum hardly messy at all, and much less wasteful. Others users, like Rook for example, choose to inject with a syringe either softened or melted shea butter. Just some different ideas to consider.

• Ok, I think I got the right thread here to ask this question.

With the new addition of the Vice... will shea butter (the oil) attack the silicon and start to break it down over time? I only started to wonder about this because I was doing some research on coconut oil and found that it (the coconut oil) can break down condoms. I know condoms are generally latex.. but is there any correlation or concern about using shea butter with the vice?

Hello Yakapelli, :)

Thank you for posting your question here. I don't think there will be any issues with Aneros Vice + shea butter. I base this on my own experiments with my Feeldoe More that is a 100% silicone toy. I've used it several times with shea butter and have not noticed any degradation of the silicone. If you still have concerns, send a private message to "support". Or an e-mail to support@aneros.com. I'm sure they will be happy to confirm whether or not there is an issue with plant based oils in general, and the silicone in the Vice model.

• I keep mine frozen and just cut out "slivers" and it is working very well for me...easy to insert too ! Nice and cold in my anus, but warms and melts quickly....
• hi guys
a fantastic forum and so much good info!
well i have a question that seems not to have been covered as yet. does anyone know if using shea butter while taking warfarin causes any problems? i have googled but have failed to come up with anything concrete so far, perhaps some of you can help and perhaps paste the links for others to check out.
well i have only used my progasm about 4 times, upto now i have been using ky but since this is absorbed causing dryness i thought its time to change the lube. last night was my best session so far with my progasm, i had a mini O within 20 mins then spent the next hour pretty much on the edge of a super O, the shaking and feelings i had were out of this world but i seemed to be just on the edge. what an experience though.
just noticed the ebay here in the uk have unrefined shea for £4, had anyone used this this and if so how did you find it?

Hello Geordie, :)

It seems that nobody appears to know the answer to your question of pharmaceutical interactions. Perhaps ask your doctor?

As far as the shea butter you found on Ebay, perhaps posting a link would be helpful so other people know what you are talking about?

----------------------------------------------------

On a different note, I've once again accidentally overcooked my current jar of Now Solutions shea butter. I think that will be the last time I do that. I hate to waste. And the end result is that the shea butter's melting temperature is significantly increased such that it is not worth a damn as a lube so it gets thrown out. Where as even when it is crumbly and/or gritty, it is still very effective lube. Just a bit more difficult to insert without making a mess.

Thankfully a friend gave me a jar of "Nubian Heritage" raw Shea butter that she had and did not use. I've never used or seen this brand, but the color looks about right, and it seems promising from just melting some between my fingers. Although the odor is a good deal stronger than I'm used to. I'll report back what I find.

So as far as heating shea butter until melted to try and eliminate a crumbly or gritty consistency goes...
There is some risk involved. It should not be heated very much and at low temperatures or you are likely to end up with a ruined jar of shea butter and wasted money.

As love_is suggests, talk to your doc. Perhaps it's a long-shot but you might find it listed in the Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) for Herbals and Supplements. if there's a direct danger it may appear, as Saw Palmetto does, as "synergistic to blood thinning agents." An indirect danger is having a personal allergy to tree nuts. One's allergic response might then energize the blood thinning agent.

Personal experience: I take a Plavix + Aspirin and have no issues with alv's recipe -- Shea Butter + Coconut oil. However Warfarin and Coumadin offer less room for error.

Hi all, well I'm a newbie to this site and to the Aneros. I have been consumed in this forum learning all i can about both the health and sexual benefits of Aneros. It's great so far.
Anyway, let me get back on track of the thread. I have researched where to by Shea butter here in Australia and found Shea Butter Australia Pty Ltd who sell unrefined Shea butter, 1kg sells for $19.80 AUS plus postage. I have not tried it as yet as im still anxiously awaiting delivery of my newly purchased Helix (my fist Aneros)
By the way i must say incredibly impressed with the support people provide in helping other achieve new experiences. Kudos to all forum members

Hello Simmo,

And welcome to the Aneros forums. :)
Let us know how this shea butter works out so that other people in your country can be informed. You are much like in the same situation as the people in the UK that don't have access to purchasing the Now Solutions shea butter brand. The price seems pretty reasonable for that weight in shea butter. But without seeing the color of it, I can't even begin to guess if it may work good as anal lube. I hope it does, so it is not a waste of money. I guess at least worst case you can use it as body/skin moisturizer.

Hi Love_Is
I have confirmation that my Shea butter is on it's way, so will wait and see what the colour and consistency is like.
I hope it lives up to expectation. The director is keen to get feedback on his product (I didn't say what it is going to lubricate, I don't think he needs to know) I'm guessing he might be new to it (selling the product). Usually this means companies produce the highest quality product for the lowest price. I'll give you an update on how it goes. I'm still waiting for my Helix to turn up so I'm quite excited.

Thanks for the brief update Simmo.

On another note, I finally tried the "Nubian Heritage" shea butter that was given to me last night. And it burned my inner anal sphincter and rectum just like the Alaffia brand did. I suspect these are brands that use chemical extraction, and the left over chemical residue is what is causing this. Interestingly enough, in hindsight, the smell was quite similar to the Alaffia brand. Although entirely different colors.

So I'm off to the store to buy a new jar of Now Solutions shea butter today. And I think I'm pretty sure I won't be heating it up. It's just not worth the risk.

Hi Love_is, I double checked site after reading your post. The company specifically states they use mechanical extraction and use no chemicals. They also ship overseas, but ill try it first and give an update on texture, feel, colour and longevity.

Simmo,

I did a search for "Shea Butter Australia Pty Ltd" a few days ago and all I could get (apart from their street address) was that every page on the site (including the shop), was "Under Construction"!

In response to your latest post, I have just done another search via Google and all three references have turned up information which seems to indicate that their site has been taken down. Don't know what is going on but I am a bit suspicious.

My supplier has been Mama Aum which was based in Brisbane but I gather she has been affected by the floods and other problems, so I'm not sure if I can continue to get it from there.
