Salvia Divinorum as arousal facilitator
  • I've been using the aneros for around 9 months or so. I've had non-ejac orgasms with intermittent frequencies. Meaning, I'd have two sessions in a row (one each night) which featured them, then a dry spell lasting sometimes a month or more.

My main problem is that I'm usually tired, and not aroused. And as most long-time users generally advise, being aroused and aware are rather key to the experience. I would feel incredible pleasure, and sometimes even build up to the cusp of a super-O. Or so I thought (more on that to come). And then suddenly my body would remember it is exhausted. Like snapping awake but in the other direction. Then sensations would fade rather rapidly and I couldn't get them back.

Unfortunately, due to my horrible sleep schedule, er, lack of a sleep schedule,... I tend to be tired when I am aroused, or awake but not aroused. Rarely both at once.

So I became interested in trying the salvia as an aphrodisiac, to see if... as has been mentioned elsewhere here... it could "boost" me into a state of super-O thus hopefully showing my body what it was like and let it know that such a state was attainable. My goal, of course, and my wish... is that after reaching super-O with this aid, my body would know where it lie in the future, and I could approach it with surer footing.

So I took the salvia under my tongue. Diluted. Held it for 15 minutes. Swallowed. It definitely aroused me, there is no question of that. Then I lay down and tried a session. It felt so incredibly amazing just to slip it inside that I moaned at first touch. It wasn't long before my stomach was taut as iron, and my penis more erect than it's ever been. The level of sensation in this session makes all my prior thoughts about the "cusp of super-O" ridiculously naive. I felt this urge inside me, like I was RIGHT on the edge of coming. That insistent pressure inside the urethra. And if I put my fingers below my scrotum I could feel this demonic fluttering down there. I started to get the proverbial "waves of bliss" feeling, and this pitch kept increasing. Astoundingly beautiful.

I shared this session's details with a friend of mine online. He, too, has recently procured an aneros (two in fact, the bastard ;) ) And told me... "what if what you think of as the cusp even now is still not even close to the actual cusp? Maybe it will drive you mad when if finally comes!" That's a delicious thought, to wonder if I haven't even begun to experience the real pleasure this thing can give to me.

This session didn't end in Super-O. I was still too tired (I generally am when I have chance to use my Helix). BUT! knowing the potential for ecstacy this thing can bring me if only I am aroused beforehand... that helps underscore that this is not a journey that will leave me deposited in some empty field, forlorn and unfulfilled.

Salvia Divinorum affects the body in many ways depending on the dosage, but it does not flood the brain with pleasure. All it did was act as a facilitator to an arousal state, which is, if I read correctly here, a necessary precursor to a rewarding session.

So in my judgment, using salvia in this way is not really cheating the experience, although one could argue it is definitely cheating one's body's natural cycle of arousal and lassitude.

Can I get some input from others here?
  • Um. Thanks for the "input", but do you think I've not bothered to research at wikipedia? *grins*

Tagging "wikipedia/whatever_subject" into a comment isn't really a comment. By now it's about as contributional as tagging "" into someone's post when they ask a question.

No, I meant I was seeking for some personal input about using a chemical to facilitate arousal, and any comments on using salvia in particular in regard to the Aneros. Do you have anything you might say?

weird, i JUST finished having a conversation about salvia before logging on and seeing this post. i was unaware that you could utilize saliva in this way. i thought you had to smoke it. what strength did u use? ive tried it a few times and never really cared for it. actually, the strong stuff gave me a terrible experience id love to never repeat.
anyways, in response to your post, it wasnt until using the aneros in combination with pot that i experienced any pleasure at all. im glad that it taught me what type of relaxation/mindset is necessary to realise benefits, but in my experience aneros is best experienced sober. im yet to have any type orgasmic experience with the aneros sober. i can only achieve states of arousal so intense, its almost orgasmic but not as strong as with pot. pot has essentially given me a goal to achieve sober. anyways, im not exactly sure the point im trying to make here but i find that even if its more difficult, sober aneros experiences are more rewarding and the daily 'side effects' (increased mood, arousal etc) are inhanced
  • Oh hi thanks for the input ;)

You can smoke it, chew the leaves, or hold the liquid extract beneath your tongue. You can also ingest it, but it's not too potent that way, if at all.

The problem with smoking is it's hard to control the dosage, and a lot of people don't smoke it the right way. From what I've read.

I took two .75 mL drops of salvia tincture, mixed with about 1.5 mL hot water to dilute it. That's a mild dose.

Well I agree with you, I wouldn't want to make using a chemical a habit for my aneros experience. I was thinking more along the lines as using it to breakthrough to super-O, and then attempting to reach that naturally, without chemical assistance.

I guess my big problem is learning about what arouses me. That and staying awake. Even now I'm feeling tired. It's a chronic issue, and I imagine it's something I'll have to remedy before I can make real progress.

LOL you're obviously too tired to think :) I posted that link since it was the most objective description of Salvia that I could find. I mean, there's plenty of websites that make it sound like heaven on earth. But not many places where the downsides are discussed.
  • lists quite a few of the potential downsides and dangers, actually. Also And there are a lot of links to testimonies of individual experiences, which vary from person to person.

But if such was your intention, why not say so in the post?

And besides, linking to Wikipedia? It's beau geste. C'mon now, where's the first place people go to research something new? Mm-hmm. Of course someone's going to look it up on WikiP eventually, so why insult them with the superfluous link?

Anyway, this is not a thread about salvia per se, but its use in an aneros session as arousal facilitator. And there aren't really downsides when taken as a small dose, per the context of this thread. Unless you take the tincture and don't dilute, in which case you will likely have a sore mouth for a while from the alcohol.

But again, back to my question... do you have any personal input on the topic of using small doses of salvia before an aneros session? Or any other arousal-enhancing chemical? Any ethical considerations or judgments? Any individual contribution whatsoever?

well, if you put it that way, id have to say that as long as one knows a lot about the substance theyre dealing with (as it sounds like you do) and knows their limits etc, occasional use of 'enhancers' could be justified. i definately dont want to encourage people to do things they arent already familair with and of course, with all experimentation, there are borders, but in my case if it wasnt for pot my mgx would probably be composting in a dump somewhere rather than be sitting beside a helix and progasm in my closet.

i find your salvia experience very intrigueing. my experiences were not in any way 'meditative' and definately did not facilitate arousal. all i experienced was uncontrolable laughter, weird movement sensations, crazy visuals and at the higher strength, INSANE movement sensations and fear. i wonder if the different means of consumption alter the effects?

i'm with enemegra in that to date my pot+aneros experiences have been in their own league (particularly in the lustiness department), and my goal is to get there w/o pot. i personally am ok w/ pot a few times a year, but that's about it.

about this other drug, i never even heard of it till this thread, and alas my drug experimentation days are over.

No personal experience -- I don't do drugs: no smoking, no caffeine, no alcohol.
  • Very interesting thread. I've considered Salvia Divinorum my plant ally for a few years now. In low doses it definitely has an hypnotic element and works on the subconscious, some use it for meditation and lucid dreaming; all states related to the manner in which the aneros functions. It definitely increases sensory experience and thus arousal.

But using salvia in this manner seems less and less appropriate once you are familiar with the true nature and power of this ally. Smoking it in silent darkness can transport you to another realm as real or even more real than this one. It has the archetype of the carnival. It utterly destroys your Ego and all your life's cultural preconceptions. To call this a drug is heresy. There's magic here and you can know this if you but dare to experience this 15 minute trip. People ask if it's dangerous..only if you fear death by astonishment. Entities will hold conversations with you and show you things you could not have previously imagined. You will know what it means to be truly human and what it means to be utterly alien. You can research this thing for weeks or months like I did before taking the plunge, read trip reports, research papers and the lot. Nothing can prepare you. This is world-view changing, soul shattering stuff. Repetition does not bring hubris. I get up the nerve about twice a year..and my knees still knock every time. It is a gift to mankind.

Also it's completely non-toxic, doesn't show on any drug test, is entirely legal in 48 states, and the exact opposite of addictive. There's a lot of evidence indicating that a neurological feedback loop caused by a psychoactive substance in our diet may have been the catalyst for man to become a conscious, sentient being. If you are introspective, philosophical, spiritual at all, you really need to experience this.

wow - that was quite a read. my experiences were more to the effect of: i giggled like a little girl out of control and drooled all over myself haha. it currently has no legal status here in canada, meaning you can walk into a corner store and buy it over the counter- thats half the fun

OK you tickled my elmo. I wont smoke it because smoking... Lets just say both my parents died horrible deaths due to a legal drug, nicotine. But if you can trip on it by ingestion, then I'm game. Is it sold OTC in the USA, anyone know?
  • You can often buy concentrated form in liquid or pill form at smoke shops or some adult stores (I've seen it a adult store and only anecdotal about the other sources). I think you can also just buy dried leaves.

If you want a real natural form, buy a seedling and grow the leaves. The way the native Mexicans used it was via a quid (bundles of leaves in the cheek). It provides a slower starting, but longer high according to the reports I've seen. It's a relative of normal sage plants (and I think someone close to the mint family).

I've been interested in Salvinia d. for some time, but haven't tried it yet. I'm semi-scared of it.
  • I've seen it in most smoke shops..the kind that sell water pipes and such. For the truly mindblowing yet short trip nothing beats the smoke unfortunately. The tincture is quicker than chewing leaves so that may be your best bet. The most important thing is set and setting. In comfort and silent darkness cannot be overstressed. This is elusive and reality will compete with it to no good effect. It's actually sort of like the Aneros. For instance, you can be completely lost in salvia space, and a noise, or someone turning on the light can dissipate the whole experience in an instant. That's where dose comes in..smoking the extract in a water pipe with a butane torch lighter (has a higher boiling point than pot), 3 big hits and hold them in as long as possible and you're going places no matter what's going on around you.

    Cheers and good luck.

I spent my time today researching. I found a lot of YouTube vids that show kids behaving like ... idiots ... on a puff of this stuff. I hope these are not representative of the stuff just like porn is not representative of the loving sexual experience.

If I'm going to do it, its going to be tincture or quid, I'm sure of that. I don't want the hard-hitting reality changing in a microsecond stuff. I'd rather go for the gradual transformation. Anyways, its all a big IF, not at all sure I have the desire (or guts :) ) to try it.

Anyways, as someone said above, it might actually interfere with the aneros experience? Does anyone have anything to say on that?
  • It will interfere with the Aneros experience..but only in a positive way I think. It will make you completely relax. The same aspect that at high doses totally conquers your ego makes you feel like you've been yourself. This goes hand in hand with the aneros taking control over you and you're basically on erotic autopilot. Those who have fantasies of being raped by a ghost should enjoy this.

What I mean by this ego-loss: you have no idea who or even what you are, no memory of having previously lived, no idea how you've gotten here, a fleeting feeling that you've left something important behind yet still retaining your intelligence, to try to figure out where to go from this zero point.

Yeah those youtube vids are ridiculous. Kids taking it in a social setting, with music blasting, etc. Silent darkness is the key, preferably alone or with a sitter (hopefully they don't laugh out loud). Closing your eyes is important, but also tricky since once it hits you probably won't know whether your eyes are open or closed. For instance my trips normally start with my room being recreated around me from memory, indistinguishable from before. I'll be convinced my eyes were open the whole time but my wife will insist that they were closed. To be sure I've been using one of those eyecovers one wears when they are trying to sleep during daylight hours.

When you've taken enough of a dose to obliterate your ego, the creation of your familiar surroundings is a normal first phase, usually followed by some form of rupture of this environment thrusting you into the Other or Salvia Space. I've experienced this as an unzipping, a tearing off, a feeling of being pulled into a mini black hole, and the like. From there you can go anywhere.

Here's one of the more professional vids on the net. Note that the proper set and setting are still not used (bright lights, several strangers observing, unfamiliar locations are all detractors) but at least they're not acting like idiots and actually trying to come to terms with what this is from a scientific point of view:

I believe this is a birth-right and it amazes me that some people live their entire lives without experiencing this. It's like never having sex. Of course cultures, governments, and the scientific establishment denounce and villify it, because it encourages people to ask hard questions for which they have no answers.

This has been an intriguing thread as I had never heard of the substance before. I am both very interested and at the same time terrified to try it. I've always had an issue with wanting to be in control of myself at all times (IE: never did drugs or got drunk), but the whole idea of this substance makes me want to try it for the experience and to break this issue I have. If only I can get up enough nerve to order some :?

Can't help you there. "Ocean kayaking at midnight" is the best metaphor I've heard. It could be calm and blissful or storming 50 foot waves and surrounded by maneating sharks. It all depends on your intentions and your state of mind. This is not recreational, but you may learn something about yourself and the world that you won't find in any textbook.

Some use it as an anti-depressent as it does have that side effect..lasts about a week or so for me.

I found a very interesting discussion about a connection between Kundalini energy and using Salvia Dividorum:

Start from there and follow the thread.

There's of course also a lot of other SD groups on Yahoo, but most require subscription.

This is getting very far afield :) and I'll shut up after this post, but I wanted to put some more information here about another substance I encountered while researching Salvia Divinorum. This substance is Kratom. Check out this quote from the FAQ (at the url at the end of my message):

    "What are the effects?
Kratom is a rather unique drug in that a low to moderate dose will usually (but not always) be stimulating, while a high dose is almost always quite sedating. This is apparently because the active alkaloids have both stimulant and sedative effects. Which predominates probably depends both on blood level and individual differences between users.
The stimulant level: At the stimulant level the mind is more alert, physical energy and sometimes sexual energy is increased, ability to do hard monotonous physical work may be improved, one is more talkative, friendly, and sociable. Some people find this level edgy rather than pleasant."

    Hmm. :)

LOL I would think everybody would know about Salvia by now after the rediculous jump in popularity it has gained in the recent past as well as the news coverage on it comparing it to legal LSD (which is BS). I second Bathysphere on pretty much everything he's said about Salvia.
If you enjoy the illusion you now live in... If you are content with what you think is real... If you like your "hiding place" you have in this existence... Then I recommend not doing Salvia... Though at the same time I feel most people should have at least one breakthrough salvia trip in their life so they can always have in their consciousness the knowledge that what we think is reality is just a fragment of what there is to conceive. I've done my share of hallucinogens but Salvia has kicked my ass the most (then again I've yet to try DMT...)
Like Bathysphere, I can only do Salvia once in a long while. Normally after I've found myself back in a mundane feeling, everyday hiding back into the routine. Whenever I feel I need my ego to be ripped in shreds...

Oh ya to actually reply to the original subject of this thread.
I myself feel that it's fine to use a substance as and aid for aneros use as long as it doesn't become needed. As for using Salvia as an aid, well I go into salvia trips with a mindset that is very far away from sexually driven so haven't really thought about it till someone (I think it was Bathysphere) posted about it awhile back. I was going to give it a try but still the thought of using salvia takes me away from thinking about sex. Maybe if I had it in tincture or quid form then I would for sure consider it.
speaking of using aids for the aneros... Lately I haven't been using the aneros at all as I'm finding the aneros is just an aid to the super O. Really you don't even need it. Have been getting to pretty intense levels without it through other means... Plus having negative reactions to lubricants has been turning me away from wanting to use the aneros lately.

Bottom line: if you smoke it, forget about sex. Sex is totally irrelevant in the context of Salvia D.

    Enough said.

    Oy. I can barely type.

Hahah! If alone, I agree. Taken with a sexual partner though... I've fucked mother nature herself..and survived (I think).

Myself, I have smoked Salvia before and I have to say that I can't fathom taking Salvia as a facilitator to an aneros session.
I smoked 5X Extract, which is pretty weak compared to what's available on the market, after a small bowl of it, before I could even put the pipe down the room I was in became (If you have done it you will understand) a flower, and I somehow became one of the petals. The flower slowly turned in the room like a merry-go-round, but I couldn't get off the flower.
From reading many things on Salvia, I knew this was part of the experience and to just relax and give it time to run it's course. It was all over in about 20 minutes, lingering maybe for an additional 10 to 15mins.
Smoking it, definetly brings on the effects very fast, and it is often a good practise to have a babysitter present to make sure you don't do anything crazy. I am how ever curious after watching the video on Google, of sucking on the extract and try the more subtle and ridable effects.

If you've never done anything like Acid, it may scare the shit out of you if you can't discern the reality from the trip itself.

    that's my .02
