My First Attempt
  • After placing my order last week, and waiting (and reading just about every post on the board in anticipation), my aneros (MGX) arrived, and I finally had a chance to try it out last night... unfortunately, it just didn't seem to work for me. As suggested by many, I started out with a brief rectal cleansing. I used about 3/4 of a cup of lukewarm water to flush out the area. Afterwards, I got out the lube, and applied it (quite liberally) to myself, and to the aneros, followed by an ample amount which I injected inside of my rectum (also as many have suggested). It was about this time, that I realized I had grabbed the "warming" lube (a water based durex brand lube). oops. It started to tingle and became a bit uncomfortable, but after a few minutes, it went away and felt okay again. So, I laid on my side, with my bottom leg straight and the top leg bent, and slowly worked the aneros in. When I got it in, I never really "sucked" the last half into my body as many describe (but this is also not my first anal toy). When I first got it seated properly, I felt a VERY slight pressure... hardly even noticable. I began doing my relaxed/timed breathings for about 15-20 minutes, and as expected, my body relaxed and became accustomed to the presence of the aneros. So I then began the timed breathing/contractions. I did this for another 10-15 minutes, without it really feeling like much was happening, but I could feel the aneros moving a bit. So I went on to the extended contractions in attempt to reach a super O through involuntaries. I began holding a contraction at about 50% for awhile, not really feeling anything. I released and tried again... tried several different amounts of pressure in the contraction. Not really getting anything. I tried moving to different positions. I tried on my knees (not really any better), on my back with my knees bent and feet flat (not any better), on my back with both legs to my chest, upright (felt a little pressure, but my "bubble butt" prevented the aneros from free movement. however, in this position, contracting axs hard as I could, and flexing all the muscles in the area, I did manage to produce my only drop of precum for the session). The best effort I had was laying on my back, with a pillow under my lower back, and knees bent, with feet flat. In that position I actually had a tingle in my arms, but I feel that may have been more because of the breathing/relaxation, then the aneros because I still didn't feel much on the prostate. I tried relubing at one point during my session (forgetting again about the "warming"... lol) to make sure that there was enough and that the aneros would move. I also ended up trying to put a square of folded toilet paper over the perimium tab, because by this point it was really irritationg the area. Finally, in exasperation after about 1.5 hours, I just masturbated to penile orgasm with the aneros in... which was okay, but not unlike any other anal toy. I guess I was really hoping for more.. at least as a first experience, although I know (based on reading the boards) that for many people it just isn't so. I have had some prostate massage before in the form of a milking, but with that, I could feel definite pressure on the prostate, and "the urge to pee", with the aneros, I could feel almost nothing (I could feel the pressure of it if I pulled up on the back handle to angle it more, and direct it with my hand... but I only did that for a moment briefly to find it, as I know it says in the instructions and on the board NOT to use the aneros manually).

So can anyone give me some help here? What am I doing wrong?? It seems like I've followed the instructions as closely as possible, and taken all the advice I could find on the board, but just can't seem to get anything. Shouldn't that pressure I've felt in prostate massage before be present with the aneros? Could it be that the aneros model I have doesn't have a sharp enough angle to hit my prostate fully? Any input, suggestions, or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Patience boys, have you really read the threads and advice, or just skimmed over them in anticipation of the big day !!!!,
Slow down, relax, no pressure, read the bee line and do not expect great results right away. The wait is worth it but if you have no patience you will get really frustrated.

I really have READ the majority of threads and advice here, and I am trying very hard to be patient, and especially to enter into it with no big expectations... but that's why I've tried to ask so many questions... because I don't know what to expect!! And to get the best and most pertainent answers possible, I just tried to be as specific as I could... unlike all those other threads where anyone who wants to help has to answer 5 other posts first because they gave no information. SO please... any advice from the "pros"?!
  • I too have read them carefully. I re-read them to make sure I haven't missed something. I'm starting to think that all these people (geezer, you're not the only one!) who say "patience boys" are major stockholders in the company. Honestly, I'm just kidding--for now. And now I'll go back and re-read the forums some more before trying yet again this evening.

Quick question: where do all you guys find time to make all these wonderful discoveries? I'm learning somewhat to my surprise that my private time alone is somewhat scarce.
  • I was really hoping that someone would have some insight to offer by now...

Regrettably, it's beginning to make me feel skeptical about this whole thing...

First and foremost, you are expecting too much too early. It took me several months before I had anything I would consider outstanding. There were a few times that I felt like giving up. In fact, I did for awhile. I think I was so wrapped up in the idea of having this ethereal experience that I was NOT relaxed when I thought I was. This toy REQUIRES relaxation. It also REQUIRES sexual arousal. My advice would be to lay off a few days. Come back to it when you won't EXPECT something to happen. In response to the perinem tab pain, try shaving your perineum. I prefer mine to be shaved, as it seems to help give some sensation in that area which is also crucial I've found.

For those that have trouble with time, we all need more time. The problem is we don't make time nor take it when we have it. Humans are always inventing new time saving technology, it doesn't really help. It's a paradox. These things that should have saved us time actually take more of it. When you need time or space, you must MAKE it. Easy for me to say, as I live alone and don't have a family, but I too have the full time job and incidentally, I am a full time student. I have learned that an hour or two spent on myselfevery now and then, is more beneficial than that time spent studying. It helps your focus. It helps your sleep. All these things can be improved by taking/making the time to take care of yourself. And I don't mean just masturbating. Take time to see a movie. Take it to travel to the ocean or mountains if you can. Go to a park. Exercise. Eat out. All these things ... and now I am getting off topic...

In my sessions, the prostate swells. When it swells I can feel the aneros in contact with it, but not a moment before that. The aneros just feels like a foreign piece of plastic in my rear. After a minute or two of placement, that feeling subsides and I can begin relaxing. Introduce some erotic material, position the perineal abutment tab in the center, and go. After a few minutes, the prostate swells causing then the perineum to swell and I can now feel that the abutment tab is more or less "gripping" the spot in which I place it. From here it can be sometimes difficult to maintain that level of arousal, but how ever you can, it needs to be done. Relax, and imagine that your prostate is being stroked by the aneros. The feeling for me is subtle. Once you focus your attention to that, the pleasure will build. From there, I can't exactly tell you what pushes me over the edge. I try imagining ejaculating the whole time I'm at that peak. I try imagining the most erotic fantasy that I can think of. I try and imagine sensations elsewhere in the body. I haven't got a formula that works every time. But, I will say that getting to this point is exciting and sometimes hard to maintain. You will want to force something to happen, this is the most crucial time to relax and breathe. Then, the Aneros may push you off that cliff and there you go - orgasm without the mess.

Incidentally, I practice on my back with a pillow propping my lower back and rump up off my bed. I have several models and I have been most successfull with the MGX, Helix, SGX, Classic - in that order. The funny thing is, I like the Classic in more ways than the other for those times that I cannot get the Super-O to happen (stress, not enough motivation, etc) For some reason, it's more of a ride.

Oh and another thing, I have not tried warming gel with the Aneros, but it loses its slickness rather quickly in other applications (at least for me). The tried and true lube for the aneros is KY Jelly or some type of similar generic. I use Surgilube - it's cheap and can be found online!

    Good luck!

    Scoob,

Terrific post, great to hear from you again!

    BF Mayfield

P.S. A word about "warming gel" and the Aneros.....DON'T. Although such products can produce sensation initially, they end up desensitizing nerve endings with continued use and can cause tissue irritation.
  • Well, I finally had a chance to go for my second session last night.

First off, I had went and purchased a new thing of lube (B Mayfield, I thought that the warming gel might have been part of the issue). I started the session with a relaxing bath, a fresh shave, and a quick cleansing of the rectum. Then I lubed up and began. Now, as I said in my first post, I had previously used a water based LIQUID warming lube. This time, I had bought a tube of the KY JELLY. Man, what a difference! This time, I was actually able to feel the aneros freely moving as I contracted. A good start. (It did still irritate my perinium though, so I used the folded sheet of toilet paper. I'm hoping the irritation this time may be because I had shaved 5 minutes prior to insertion, but we'll find out) SO I did my breathing and contracting excersizes, and moved on to the attempt at involuntaries. Again the best luck I had was on my back with my pelvis elevated by a rolled up towel. During this time, I managed to dribble precum about 4 times. Also there were 2 seperate times where I was holding the contraction and my penis got erect, and begin to feel like it was bobbing or pulsing as my anus did. Unfortunately, I could not get these sensations to last longer than 20 seconds or so either time, but the whole thing just feels a bit more like I may be on track now. From what I've read in other posts, it sounds like these sensations may be the building ground for the super O, and I'm just going to need to learn how to focus on that sensation, elongate it, and build off of it. At least now I feel like there may be a glimmer of hope.

Does this sound right to everyone else (on these sensations)? If so, any advise for maintaining or building on them without losing the feeling?

I guess my advise for the others that have posted in here saying that they are having the same problems that I am, is to first of all try a different lube. For me, the water based wasn't nearly enough. It just got sticky and dried out too quickly. Being that I had never used the jelly before, I had no idea what a difference it would make.

I guess another contributing factor is that I haven't been feeling all that well, and have a cold/flu so I'm hoping that that may have been a contributing factor to the loss of the sensations during my session.

Either way, my second session was better than the first, in that it was much more encouraging, although I'm still not where I would like to be with this toy yet.

Sounds like you're off to a great new start. These sensations will build as you get used to them. It took me awhile to "learn" what these felt like and which door to walk through after so many doors had opened up. B Mayfield has some great suggestions as far as how to proceed. Once again I'd like to emphasize the ideas of relaxation and erotic arousal. These are essential. It's hard to get erotic arousal if the aneros feels like you're defecating. And thats where the focus and relaxation have to take over. You have to imagine and KNOW that this experience is sexual. If you can't manage that hurdle now, continue trying.

Dixie, it does sound like you are getting somewhere. Don't rush (my favorite band) it though! If you get over zealous and will your experience, I'm afraid you will get frustrated and you will want to give up. Manage the anxiety and hopefully, you will stumble onto the holy grail. Once you stumble onto it a few times, the technique will begin to become clear. I have to mention that I am not orgasmic every time I use the Aneros. I have not reached that level, but I do get there half the time and I still have trouble with wanting to manipulate the Aneros with my contractions. Involuntary contractions are what you WANT (at least for me). I try and mimic these involuntaries and let me tell you, they don't function the same.

    Let it ride!

    Excellent postings Scooby. Well done!
I thoroughly endorse what you say about the necessary time and need for relaxation and your pertinent observations about the perineum swelling as a result of the prostate provoking this. My recent posting (see new threads) observes this very thing and my experience of doing something slightly different as a response to the increasing pressure in the perineal area was a joy indeed. Your encouragement is appreciated.

If any of you are having trouble having an orgasm with the aneros, then get stoned! It works everytime.
  • I bought my GMX 3 days ago. The first time I used it nothing happened. I decided I had been trying to hard to make something happen. So, the next day, I inserted the stimulator and just laid there, not concentrating on the device and after awhile my body started reacting all by itself. My whole being began twitching and vibrating. These feelings came in three enormous waves of sensation. I relaxed and everything seemed to quiet down when it started all over again.

So my suggestion to all who seem to be having trouble.... relax and don't think about what you're doing. It just happens.

Don't even contract your anus. Just breath deeply and it will move by itself. Plus if you get stoned it works everytime.

I received my Helix in the mail yesterday and had an identical first time experience as dixiewrecked...namely, nothing happened. It was rather painful inserting the device so I pushed it in very slowly. I am new to anal play of any kind, so maybe I am a "tight ass" that needs a few reps to stretch the area. Anyway, I used the water-based lube (twice the recommended amount) but will try the KY as dixiewrecked suggested. Also, I may have inserted the device too far. I think I felt the Helix contact my prostate because I got that "need to urinate" sensation, but then I pushed beyond that because I thought the unit needed to be inserted all the way in to it's base. I have read in another post that the Helix is different in that respect, and you need to leave about an inch protruding. Can anyone verify? I tried the relaxing, deep breathing and contractions as suggested in the instructions, but never reached the point where the Helix felt comfortable and never felt any tingles of any kind. One other frustrating note, I genuinely appreciate the fact that many of you take the time to respond in an effort to help us newbies, but some of these posts appear so contradictory (one user says you have to focus and concentrate, another says don't even think about it at all) that it leaves one's head spinning. It might be helpful if the manufacturers could compile some of the suggestions from these different forums and sift them down into a guide for new users. The instructions included in the package are next to worthless. I'm not giving up, by any means, and will continue to try different techniques as suggested in these forums and report progress.

    Duane -

I'm sure others will be snapping at my heels to offer their individual responses to your post but here are my observations.

If you are suffering pain on insertion, make sure that you suitably prepare yourself, paying particular attention to lubricating your anal passage in addition to the lubricant that you insert into your anal cavity. Make sure too that the Helix has lubricant on it's surface. If you are 'new' to any form of 'anal activity', you could consider inserting a finger (suitably lubricated) into your anal passage as a means of dilating your internal anal sphincter prior to inserting the Aneros device. If you are not used to this (and it may not be your 'first choice'), consider it as it may help you understand and feel what the sphincter muscles do. Whether or not you use this stategy, as you insert the Helix, breath-in deeply and relax, pushing the Helix as you breath in. You should find that this loosens the tension on your sphincter muscles and progress is easily achieved, albeit in a number of short pushes. As you are not used to this type of 'insertion', bear in mind that you must be relaxed. Do not just thrust the Helix in - your muscles may spasm (tighten) making insertion difficult. You may find that pushing outwards weakly (as if passing a stool) helps too - but not too much as you don't want to evacuate all the lubricant! There comes a point where you will find that the Helix gets drawn in as your muscles contract - bliss!
As I understand it (and certainly the way I use it) the Helix is not designed to go all the way in - up to the hilt. Rather, it goes in as far as the narrow shoulder. This then lets it move freely from this axis and the abuttment tab still gets 'pulled in' to the 'million dollar point when you contract your PC muscles. Make sure that you don't get any lubricant on the abuttment tab or on your perineum where the tab will sit, otherwise it will slip around rather than check itself into the mdp cavity.
A few users report some success without using any initial movement (and this has happened to me too) but I remain unconvinced that this should form any basis for a worthwhile, regular and consistent method for achieving successful Super Os. The device is designed to provoke involuntary muscle responses to voluntary contractions so I strongly take the side of an active rather than a passive approach here. This active approach means adopting a form of visualisation - a sensate focus that centres your conscious being on the organs that are subject to the increasing stimulation you are generating within your own body. In a sense, you are in control of the 'out of control' sensations that are built up; each wave rising on the back of the previous one - the excitement of the one generating, exponentially, power to the next.
I am surprised to read that you are unhappy with the instructions. When I began, I followed the online instructions on this site and was pleased with my results - 'straight from the box'. Following them didn't instantly deliver my body into the grip of Super Os but I did begin the journey to achieving new sensations.
Before you go any further I would suggest that it would be worthwhile for you to read the Bee Line archives that B F Mayfield has put together from his many lines of advice to users.

Take heart! We will all help you on your way!

    Duane,

It looks to me as though there might be a confusion about what it is that we're focusing on. For the most part I believe that what is being suggested here involves focusing using visualization, while avoiding the focus on one's technique. I think that's a fairly consistent concept throughout the forum. Some advise more, some less. But the overriding theme is, that if one does nothing but concentrate on technique (quantity, intensity and timing of contractions), the effect may be a virtual lock out on the Super O (I certainly maintain this). To be sure, learning technique is important, but at a given point you need to background your thoughts about it. Sensation and arousal are the keys. I'm sure you've seen it written by now just let your body show you the way....there is a great deal of truth in this. Unfortunately this type of orgasm cannot be accessed in a mechanical or systematic way as is an ejaculation.

I entirely agree with B F Mayfield. This is about letting your body lead the way. It is very easy to get trapped into focusing on technique and then think that provided I do (a) followed by (b), as per a penile masturbation event, then (c) will happen. It is not about adopting a prescriptive approach and I concur the experience as being more deeply rooted in (as BFM suggests) arousal and sensation; that makes it (in the broader context) wholly more spiritual. Technique is important, but should not be an end in itself.

Thank you both for you suggestions. I made attempt #2 today. This time I started with an enema and used a pre-lube injected up the anus plus KY jelly on the Helix. The jelly made a tremendous difference! The Helix inserted much more easily and with no pain (although it never does quite reach the point where I feel it is being pulled in by the sphincter muscles). I tried stopping short of full insertion but found that the slickness of the jelly caused it to be immediately expelled so I reinserted the unit up to its base again. I laid on my side and listened to a relaxation tape for about 30 minutes and I reached a state where I was very relaxed and the device felt very comfortable. Then I started the contractions and started getting my imagination involved as suggested. This proved to be rather difficult because I discovered the abutment tab was digging into my perineum rather painfully with each contraction. I think next time I will try placing a folded tissue over the tab to soften it. I stopped the contractions after about 30 minutes due to the perineum irritation. I still never had any tingles or pleasant sensations whatsoever (other than what is normal for mental sexual imagery) but I am in this for the long haul so I'll just keep up with the trial and error and exercise a lot of patience. Thanks again for your help.

    *******************************************************************
    UPDATE
    *******************************************************************

I have had a few more sessions since my last post here, so I decided to fill you all in with an update on my progress and whatnot. I feel that I have made some great progress and wonderful discoveries, that I will hopefully be able to express in a way that others can benefit from, although I still have not found the elusive "super-O".

Over the past few sessions, I really feel like I have learned a lot about this, and am beginning to feel a lot less confused about technique and whatnot. 2 Sessions ago I had my first REAL involuntaries, and I was easily able to duplicate these again last night during a brief session. However, I do sort of feel that I could've easily reached these sooner had their not been so much confusion (or better stated, "lack of clarity") in many of the advise posts I read. Hopefully, I can clarify for others. For me, the key was to SEPERATE ANAL AND PERENIAL CONTRACTIONS. It seems like every post is plastered with instructions referring to anal contractions, and although they are important (especially during the focus/warm up period), I would say they fall a distant second to perenial muscle activity. So then, for those who don't know what I'm talking about, or haven't been able to make that seperation, let me try to explain. After your period of focus/warm up (the slowed breathing with timed contractions) we want to invoke our invluntaries. For me the easiest way to get used to this was laying on my back, with my legs up in the air bent at the knees (I layed on the floor of the bathroom and just rested my calves up on the edge of the tub), and here's why:

You know what it feels like when you are standing up, and have a semi-hard erection, where your penis is pretty hard but not standing at full attention? Now, when it's like this, you know how we can "flex it" to make it stand up at higher attention by squeezing that muscle? THAT'S THE KEY. That's the perenial muscle. Maybe even get a semi and stand up and try to flex it a few times to focus on that muscle and what it feels like. Now that you know that, let's get back to where I was, in postition on the floor.

This position works well for me because as I am erect laying on the floor like this, my penis now points upwards towards my navel, and gravity pulls it downwards towards my stomach. I find this works so well, because I can be FULLY erect, yet still have that feeling of pulling against something when I flex that perenial muscle to stand my erect penis back up, as if I were standing with a semi-erection. So, during your warm up, your anal contractions were likely exercising both your rectum and your perenial muscle. Now, for the main part of the session, I just focus ONLY on perenial. I'll start flexing the perenial muscle alone for 10-15 seconds. then release for a few, then flexing again and holding it. As I do this a few times, my penis starts to get really hard, and my anus automatically tightens a bit as the excitement builds. From here, it only takes a few seconds until the involuntaries begin. To get the involuntaries, I just hold the perenial muscle slightly flexed, and soon your penis will begin what I call "bobbing" up and down, sort of like the motion that it has when you are ejaculating. It's like a pulsing of muscle contractions in the perenium, caused by just holding a slight flexing of the muscle.

Now, here's the part of the journey that I have to leave you at for now, because this is where I'm stuck. I am able to great some great involuntaries now. Last night, I had them for probably almost 10 minutes straight. During this time, I also expelled precum (although it was only maybe half of an eyedropper full, which is NOT common for me, because I usually expel NONE during any sexual activity) during the "bobbing" of the penis/perenium contractions. So I know that I was doing it right and it was working. However, as I said, I am STUCK here. Aside from just the muscle contractions and erection, I am really not feeling anything relating to what anyone else shares about the feelings of heat, or buzzing, or vibrating, or building up, or waves of pleasure, or anything that even come close to resembling an orgasm of any sort (internal or external). Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else?! How long does it normally take from the time the invluntaries start, until you begin to feel those waves of pleasure or whatever other sensations you guys feel? Could I be doing something wrong? I sure wouldn't think so, since everything else seems to be working so well. What kind of advice can you veterans offer me at this point?! Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Your question asks how long does it take 'normally' to move from involuntary contractions to a Super O. This is difficult to answer because we are dealing with individual responses and these are not prescriptive in terms of performance. We could easily find out how long it takes to boil a kettle - given an appropriate flame and water starting at whatever temperature - and assuming we are near to sea level - it's entirely scientific and predictable!
To answer this - you - and only you probably - need to take into account your individual state of arousal and response and the level of mental commitment you are giving to your body's responses. So, I believe only you can answer this one.
My recent experiences suggest that I can begin to provoke Super Os within twenty minutes from the start of a session - and here I can suggest something that I have started to do that pushes me over the edge. In response to a question about valley breathing etc. in a recent post, B F Mayfield reminded us of the value of different breathing techniques and I reflected on this and applied it along with something I picked up elsewhere. I began a 'panting' (breathing out) regime- a technique similar to that used for controlling pain from contractions in natural childbirth (very shallow breaths out through pursed lips) - (do not overdo this as you may start to hyperventilate!) and alternated it with a 'sobbing 'regime - very short breathing in. The secret is for the short breaths to cause my abdomen to 'shake' and this shaking (at breath's end) is picked up by my PC muscles that begin to spasm and lead into a Super O. But all of this is not in isolation. My level of sexual awareness has to be high and my sensate focus has to be centred on the orgasmic contractions that begin to roll and roll. I have to be near to that 'point of no return' for this to be picked up and translated into orgasm. If, as you relate, you have found yourself at that point, next time you're there, give it a try.
