Helix Versus Helix Syn Question
  • I am cannot make up my mind about my  first purchase. It think it will be either a Helix or a Helix Syn.  Is one better than the other?

I seem to have read on the forum that Helix Syn is hard to clean.  Is that so? I imagine Whatever I buy it should, with good lube slide in and out smoothly and even slippery! would that be the case with the Helix Syn or should I go for the plain Helix or some other model?

I have previous experience with anal toys, so I should be able to accommodate either. (excitedly waiting for for it to it happen, must make my decision first)

I look forward to having your input.

    Regards,

    Hi @SpeedoSmoothy,

The Helix Classic is the original model in the Helix series. It is made of white plastic.

The Helix Syn is the Helix with an overlay of silicone which delivers a smoother, gentler ride. It came out about two years ago. The Helix Syn was my first Aneros model. It still stars in all my sessions.

    Take care,

The classic Helix is just as good! And, if you're experienced at anal pleasure, the softer Syn model, may be less subtle than you want! I wish I had gotten the Helix Classic first, since I had a significant amount of anal stimulation experience when I first started using Aneros! IMHO

  • Thanks Thom/BigGlansDC and Theme_Gasm,
Appreciate your comments. I may have to buy both then :D
Initially then, I think I will go with the Syn, (love the thought of a bit of silicone) and then later, if that doesn't fill me enough I will try something bigger.
    Cheers,

  • Bit the bullet and Ordered from Physio Supplies in Queensland Australia.  They said it would ship within 2 days and delivery 8-10 days.  Could get it quicker from the USA I am thinking.  Just have to wait patiently I suppose.

  • Shipped and now in transit! Waiting impatiently, finger will get a workout until it arrives.

Between the two models it really comes down to how much pressure you can tolerate on the perenuim. The classic is more agressive, the Syn more gentle. In time, you will need to try several models to determine your preference. Starting out with the Syn is a good choice!

  • Thanks Xileh,
I think I would be happy with either.  But..... Don't they say "One is not enough"
In time like a lot of other forum members, I am sure I won't be able to resist the temptation of variations and sensations of other models.  Something to look forward to! (I am such a harlot)
    cheers,

I'm really happy with my Syn. But it never smells as clean as my Progasm ICE, which is plastic. I'm still trying to figure out how to clean it right. I wash it in hot water. Lather it in soap. Even spray Lysol on it. But for some reason, I can't get the "shit" smell out of it. It's gross. I'm thinking of letting it soak in some cleaner solution.

But other than the smell, I'm happy with it. It's softer than the ICE, which I like. I don't feel as sore after using it as I do with the ICE.
  • Thanks Mdad, perhaps the silicone material of the Syn is more porous than the hard plastic of the normal Helix. That might account for it. I can live with it anyway if it works as it should.
  • Checked my emails this afternoon, received and email from Australia Post to say my "package" is ready for collection at my Post Office mailbox. Helix Syn, here I come to pick you up. Cannot wait to give you a test drive.

Don't forget to pick up lots of lube! Have fun!

  • This discussion seems to be double posting or something. I can see all the posts repeated again. Weird.

Anyway, got the lube, thought I wasn't using enough but I might just have to change my forum name to "sloppy Thighs" from now on. I leaked a fair bit but it gee it was fun. I will let you know how it went soon. Having too much enjoyment to concentrate on writing anything just right now. Stay tuned!
  • I have written a little piece about my first Aneros experience. You can see it on my blog if you would like to have a bit of a read.

    Hi @SpeedoSmoothy,

The Helix Syn will get better and better as you use it. Perhaps later down the road, you can get a Helix Classic for a more aggressive ride as well.

    Thom./BigGlansDC
  • Yep, I hear what you are saying BigGlansDC. I think for just the moment I have a lot of learning to do with this one. Later down the track when I have become competent with this one I will go for something more aggressive. I do like the feeling of a stretched sphincter, so may go for something that is bigger in diameter at the base.
  • Through the few years I have been using Aneros I have had just about all of them. I gave all away since I experience prostate orgasms without Aneros in, but when they went on sale I got a Maximus just to enhance performance and feel that fullness like a real cock. The HelixSyn had been my favorite, and I would have gotten that instead, but wasn't on sale. What I like about HelixSyn is the silicone soft feel, and the handle.seems to sink into my crack and not hit the bed when on my back. I had removed the handles on most models for that reason, and am going to remove it from the Max. I since got the DeVice when on sale, and it is my present fav, again because of the silicone, short handle, and largeness. I too had previous anal experience with dildos, and had done kegels for a couple of years. I think that is why I achieved prostate orgasm in only a few months.

Thanks for that advice. Yes, the Helix Syn does seem to sink into your crack. This was a little off putting at the start as it seemed to slide in and out against my butt cheeks. ( plenty of lube to slide against) but now I have accepted the fact that it does this and I think I will get to like it. Seems to point to the fact that I am doing the contractions right. A couple of times I put my fingers into my butt cheek crack , behind the Aneros and could feel the lube had leaked out of me. I liked that feeling of slippery cheeks
  • I find putting my fingers in my anus, or even just touching it, while aneros is in sends me to the moon.
  • I never thought to put my finger in my anus while using the Aneros. Thought it might put me of the goal of trying to achieve an orgasm. I will try it when I get a chance. Cannot do for the next few days as I am without my Helix Syn. I am on holidays with my wife in the close confines of a small caravan.
  • Lost half that post into the wild blue yonder. Anyway, what I said after my last post is that my wife would not be happy if She knew I had the Aneros so it is a solo journey that I have undertaken with it.
I like all sorts of good sensations where my anus is concerned. A favourite is to put on a latex glove, lube up my fingers, insert my middle finger (slips in real easy) massage my prostate and when I feel stretched enough, ease in a second and third finger. It feels like bliss to me as my penis drips pre-cum and My anus stretches even further. I use imagery to pretend it is someone else penetrating me. After a session like this I walk around and think how deliciously stretched my moist anus feels. The good feeling lasts for hours.
    Cheers,

@aneros_user13872, if used a Progasm Classic, no fingers would be necessary. [-X

I tried to put yours in my reply comment, but couldn't figure out how to do it. I wanted to reply to "A favorite, etc." with been there, done that. After all, fingers were around before aneros, and there's nothing like skin-on-skin. I'm not married so I can even say a real cock up there is even nicer. Of course it is important to know whose it is to play safe. Condoms are OK, but not nearly the same.

@Speedosmoothly:  I started with the Helix Syn and have "stuck" with it, though it's not sticking is one of its advantages.  I think it requires a bit more care: like not using silicon based lube , and not getting too obsessive about cleaning it (soap and warm water).    I have previously posted elsewhere on telling my spouse about the device, and she knows that I have it for prostate issues and concurs.  I have let her know that on occasion I have had it in during intercourse (to VERY great advantage for both of us).  But I will say that our conjugal life is not kinky, just regular and rewarding for two older people who've been together 43 years (last February 14th---just bragging :x).   I really think that if you do not make an issue about using it, and if she has a positive experience with you while you're using it as she is sure to have, if my experience is representative of others (see comments by Akira and me under the Masturbation discussion), she will accept it.  All the best...
  • Well Armon-neat, you and BigGlansDC have both advised me on discussing the Aneros with my wife in the hope that she will accept me using it. I plan to do so over a couple of casual conversations regarding my prostate health. I hope to convince her of the benefits of using it but I doubt she will approve, be comfortable with it or indeed, accept it.
Congratulations on 43 years of marriage and still doing it! I am another story, 46 years married, no sex for the last eight years except Mrs Palmer and her five daughters (joke, masturbation by hand that is). I am hanging in there by a thread.
    Cheers,
    SpeedoSmoothy
  • So sorry to hear that, SpeedoSmoothy. You deserve all the pleasure you can get from Aneros and Mrs Palmer. I have never been married, so i'm glad i have those 2 friends. I've had brief experience with other men, but no longer.
