Aneros use and urethral stricture issues
  • Hi guys,
Is there any chance the use of the aneros can damage the urethra, either by the p-tab hitting it or the other end where the urethra goes through the prostate. Maybe there is a urologist on board to answer this?

I started using the aneros about 3 years ago to help what I thought was a prostate issue which turned out to be a stricture deep in the urethra. I had an operation to remove the stricture 2 years back but it only worked for 6 months...the result is i have a constant feeling that something is clogging the urethra or prostate, making me feel like I have to pee, after I have just gone. Anyone else dealing with this? It sucks.

Urologist said psa is very low .07 or something like that and prostate size is normal. I'm late forties and physically fit.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I've held off using aneros since Jan to see if it makes a difference.

    Update nov 2013

Tried lots of medications, therapy, diet changes. 4mg of cardura and zoloft seem to give me enough relief to lead almost normal life. Pas is zero at age 50. Thanks for advice on the undivided mind book. Therapy with a counselor helped with stress issues.

Four months without aneros. Have you noticed any difference.
    What aneros did you use.

Not a urologist but a medical doctor that's done lots of men's health issues and prostate exams. I can't see how proper Aneros usage would have any capability to injure the male urethra. It's just too far away from anywhere the Aneros makes its generally gentle, that is non-traumatic, contact with the rectal wall and prostate internally or the perineum externally.

Strictures do often come back, sometimes in just months after they are treated surgically as you note in your case. Has not using your Aneros a few months made any difference in your symptoms? I would tend to think it would have made no particular difference and that using it again likewise would pose no harm in your situation. Perhaps with renewed Aneros use, as with others who observe this, the relaxation to your prostate will allow for better flow through the prostatic portion of your urethra.

Best wishes for improvement in your symptoms. I have seen where a second procedure to treat the strictures will result in relief for prolonged periods of time. I hope the best for you.

This may sound weird man. But I had this. And the issue was that it was in fact caused by stress. I had it for a long time mind you. But think about the things that may stress you out. It could be a whole lot of little things causing it (or it may be something else).

But yea, I started journaling and it went away completely. Occasionaly it will come back under stress or emotional distress but otherwise its gone.

Of course I'm not saying this is you. But it's something to look into. The brain is extraordinarily powerful.
  • ...guys... thanks for the information and input. did you use a journal under direction of a therapst of some sort? or on your own. My general doctor mentioned biofeedback. I don't have much stress in life...other.......then the stress this situation causes!!! Thanks again for the input!

Yes and no. Therapist no but using a great book yes. Cured my fibromyalgia among other things. It's called the divided mind: the epidemic of mind body disorders. And even if you don't think you are stressed lots of things go on in the unconscious we aren't aware of. It may or may not help you but your story is similar to mine so it may be worth a look.
