Over 1 year later, I think I had involuntaries today - where does that put me?

To be brief, I tried a session this morning. I thought I should deep-breathe with the Helix in for 10 minutes as a warm-up, but found myself just skipping that phase after a few moments and performing some medium contractions.

I didn't want the session to lose arousal, so I gave a few, ahem...strokes, less than 15, (normal masturbation in other words), but then thought: "No, focus! Penis, NOT!", so I went back to anal contractions. I wasn't sure if I was doing PC or anal contractions so I put finger lightly on the perineum tab of the Helix to feel what direction/force/muscle I was using.

After a few more moments, it seemed as if the device started moving by itself with involutary contractions! I don't know how to explain it in terms of pleasure other than a comparison with a penile ejaculatory orgasm: it was nowhere near the pleasure of a penile ejac-orgasm, but it felt psychologically good. WTF? Maybe it felt good to be moving on from inserting, contraction, giving up, ending session? But hmmm, no, I actually had a sense of being "at its mercy".

At one point, it felt - or maybe I just imagined that - I was on the verge of something happening, possibly a P wave, but it never came. But the involuntaries felt good. I don't think it was even as intensely pleasurable as say a lover's finger run over my body, but it was a "generalized" pleasure, a more "spir.." - I better not say that, I'm not even close to that yet..so not "spiritual", but hmmm, erotic?

Maybe I didn't have the pleasure of a female that opens her legs and puts herself at the mercy of a man, but I had the psychological, sensual, erotic "openness" of one.

However, it didn't feel like my prostate was being stimulated, oddly enough. It was more the in-out sensations that I noticed rather than feeling that a pleasurable spot was being hit. The involuntaries only lasted about maybe a minute each time they happened - about 3 times.

If you've read my posts, I had "obssessive thinking" about female pleasure compared to males inferior pleasure (female multiple orgasms, no pressure to perform, relaxed, clit, vag, etc), and my own lack of penile pleasure except for the orgasm and build-up to it (~30 seconds) during sex and masturbation; low libido, etc.

Now to me, the Helix involuntaries felt - at least psychologically? - better than masturbation and (pre-ejac phase) sex (as far as I can remember! It's been a long time!) and more intense than those two as well. Sex obviously has the added "love" (for me it did) factor, etc, which made it seem better than it was. These involuntaries had nothing to make them seem better than they were: they were just good outright. If that makes any sense?

I will end this thread now, coz who knows if I will have involuntaries again. I just hope that once you step up the Aneros ladder, you can keep going without regressing. It's been over a year since I've had Aneros sessions - non regular use because of scheduling difficulties (I live with mum) and irregular bowel movements.

I've had hardly any pleasure up till now. I hope this isn't to set me up for a disappointment. Please say it's easier from here onward!!!

Yes, I have been reading your posts and understand the issues you have been working through. I think your recent experience is a postitive sign you are turning things around for yourself. You have learned some valuable lessons to date.
1.) Your penis need not be the focus of your pleasure.
"...but then thought: "No, focus! Penis, NOT!"
2.) You can differentiate your muscle contractions.
"I put finger lightly on the perineum tab of the Helix to feel what direction/force/muscle I was using."
3.) You have experienced the subtle P-waves generated by your body.
"...but it felt psychologically good." "...the involuntaries felt good." "...it was a "generalized" pleasure," "Now to me, the Helix involuntaries felt - at least psychologically? - better than masturbation..."
4.) You have experienced some mini-O's.
"The involuntaries only lasted about maybe a minute each time they happened - about 3 times."
"... it seemed as if the device started moving by itself with involutary contractions! ...I actually had a sense of being "at its mercy"."

5.) You have begun to "Just Let Go" and surrender control from your ego consciousness.
"Maybe I didn't have the pleasure of a female that opens her legs and puts herself at the mercy of a man, but I had the psychological, sensual, erotic "openness" of one."

All of these are positive signs of your progress, please do not discount their significance but, at the same time, don't expect every session to produce similar sensations or you may be disappointed. "At one point, it felt - or maybe I just imagined that - I was on the verge of something happening," No, you didn't just imagine that, your body was giving you the subtle cues there is much more potential within you. Potential pleasures yet to be revealed, your patience is beginning to pay off.

thanks for the encourgement. I have 2 questions:
    1. what are the involuntaries due to? they aren't a sign of the prostate becoming rewired. why is this such an important step then?
    2. i will not be able to Aneros again for a while (1 - 2 weeks). will i lose what I've built/experienced?

    My Turn,

I think there can be a number of reasons for muscles to go into involuntary spasms, orgasms are one of those reasons. I do think the 'rewiring' journey in which each of us is involved leads to increased incidences and tendencies to experience these involuntary contractions in the genital area. I tend to think of it more as an indicative result rather than a step or goal one tries to achieve, as such I don't think one should assign too much importance to this effect. In my mind the goal is to generate pleasure waves, inducing involuntary contractions of the pelvic floor muscles usually aids that quest but I can also generate P-waves in the absence of involuntary contractions.

As with most motor skills practice at regular intervals helps maintain acquired levels of performance. The longer one goes between practice sessions increases the chances of degrading your skills, we "get rusty" or the oft quoted "Use It or Lose It" syndrome may occur. I subscribe to the theory that knowledge, once acquired, is never really lost. However, if not regularly used, knowledge gets re-prioritized in our mental filing cabinet to a more remote location and is thus more difficult to retrieve.

I like 'rook's response to 'aircalv's thread - "Being at a point where I 'need' a couple of Aneros sessions just to stay sensual and even with the program, I understand where you are coming from.
Suggest regularly work to generate p-waves with "Anerosless" contractions. I like a routine of focused contractions starting at my knees and working upward into my pelvis, imagining the Aneros doing it's job on your p-spot. Add some nip-stim to those routines."
So given the fact you can't have an actual Anerosession, you can practice related activities, such as performing Kegel exercises, fantasizing, visualizing, related manual stimulation techniques (ones you use in an Anerosession). These exercises will keep your practice fresh and help maintain your skills and reduce the tendency for your knowledge to atrophy.

    Hello MyTurn, :)

I'm so happy to see you finally make some progress in your Aneros journey! :D
I think now that you have experienced even some small amount of pleasure in a Aneros session, you will find that it is good motivation to try and practice more regularly as your able to. Keep at it dude! :)

So this is a minor step then, having involuntaries? It certainly felt as if I had more to "write home about" by having them. So sensual pleasure is better than erotic muscle contractions in terms of rewiring? That's a shame. I thought I was progressing. But I guess that makes sense.

The anus/rectum has nothing to do with prostate stimulation in terms of rewiring, does it? So involuntary contractions do not indictate rewiring in any way? They just show that you are more open to the experience, are contracting in a reasonably correct manner, etc, right?

Thanks! I really hope I can "level up" some more. I am kinda trying to find a relationship, and I would prefer to have rewired before then, as it is more "alpha male" or impressive to say to a new GF: "I know it's a bit freaky, but I can have prostate orgasms", rather than say: "I put an Aneros in me and am chasing this goal that may not be attainable, and also while I chase it, I prefer not to ejaculate regularly with you", etc, etc.

    MyTurn,

    IMHO,
'rewiring' is an ongoing process in which you accrue skills and experiences which aid you in expanding your sensory development to accrue more knowledge, skills and experiences. This process is unique to each individual, you will learn at a rate appropriate for your body and mind to accept. It can not be rushed or forced to occur.

"So this is a minor step then, having involuntaries?" Labeling any particular aspect as "a minor step" may be passing judgment unnecessarily and discounting its merits. What may seem as a "minor step" to you may seem to be a "major step" for another man, it is only as important as you make it to be. All aspects of the 'rewiring' are relevant but their importance is subject to variability depending on your particular situation.

"So sensual pleasure is better than erotic muscle contractions in terms of rewiring?" This is an 'apples/oranges' type of question, the two concepts are not comparable as each may be considered a component of the other. Even if they were comparable, labeling one "better" or worse may be counterproductive. Perhaps it would be more effective to simply term something pleasureful or not, without making a value judgment.

"The anus/rectum has nothing to do with prostate stimulation in terms of rewiring, does it?" Stimulation of any particular body part is inputting information into the body's entire nervous system, which is then processed by our brain and integrated into our mind. Our minds determine whether that stimulation is pleasing or not and whether to integrate the experience ('rewire') or not. How you interpret all sensory input (not just anus/rectum) affects your 'rewiring'.

"So involuntary contractions do not indictate rewiring in any way?" Yes, they do, as I alluded to when I said they were an indicative result.

"They just show that you are more open to the experience, are contracting in a reasonably correct manner, etc, right?" Having or not having involuntary contractions is unrelated to ones openness or lack thereof to the Super-O experience. Having or not having involuntary contractions is unrelated to
"...contracting in a reasonably correct manner" (whatever that means, I have no idea). You may be assuming there is some "correct manner" for performing contractions which I believe is simply not true. There are many different combinations of contractions which can prove effective for individuals, it is up to you to find the combination which is effective for you, forget about placing a value judgment of "correct" or incorrect on it.

I know you are working through many psychological issues in your life right now and I wish you the best in coming to terms with yourself. I think it will help if you ease up on the intensity of your efforts with the Aneros, an attitude adjustment may be needed here. Instead of thinking about Aneros use as
"...chasing this goal..." think of it in terms of 'exploring an interest', instead of thinking that Aneros use is "...a bit freaky..." think in terms of 'a sensuous adventure'. I get the impression from your postings you may be putting too much pressure on yourself to advance, it is paradoxical, but easing off on the pressure may actually accelerate your progress.

Thanks Rumel. I will ease off a little. But I just want to be constantly progressing. I needn't have a Super O even in my 10th sesssion from now, but all I hope is that the sessions leading up to my 10th from here, are all escalating toward somewhere.

OK, I've had 2 sessions since the one first featured involuntaries. The involuntaries in the last 2 sessions were not as long lasting, thus not as intense or erotic. Also, in the last 2 sessions, I found myself doing more voluntary contractions, trying to get them to begin on their own, which seemed like I was forcing it, but it had some effect. It was like: 20 voluntary contractions followed by 5 involuntary ones. If I didn't force them, I would not have had any, it seemed.

However, in my last session, as I knew the session was coming to an end, I decided to do a couple of voluntary contractions to round things off. I counted as I did them. As I got to around 30, I dunno if I heard my own voice or something said: "keep going". As I got to 50, I felt a feeling wash over me. NOTE: it wasn't intense pleasure at all. It was more like a feather had been rubbed over my body, but internally.

It seems like, whatever progress I may be making, it is still lacking that intense pleasure that I hear about and would have expected. :(

My contractions (the ones that got me to have involuntaries) seem to have a greater degree of in-out movement than I thought was advisable. i.e. the contractions are not light. Yet, the light ones got me nowhere. I don't know if it is coz my prostate is really close to the "exit" or really deep inside. So the Helix needs to move A LOT in order to "catch" it. ???

    MyTurn,

My best sessions is when I don't try at all. If I get to my relax state, I get a lot of movement with the Aneros, and I just build from there. This info from the "Aneros, Slightest Touch, and the Super O" has helped me a lot.

Once the Aneros is fully inserted, take stock of where you’re at, that is, mentally focus on the sensations that you are feeling. If you are feeling a tickling in your pelvic region or fullness in your prostate of twitching in your anus, focus on it with your mind’s eye and slowly introduce a PC contraction and hold it. A PC contraction is a muscular contraction associated with stopping the flow of urine. This is contrasted to an anal contraction that closes the anus tightly.

With a PC contraction you will notice some movement of the Aneros as well, but on a much subtler level. If you are not already aware of the different types of contractions, take some time to familiarize yourself with them. In a sitting position begin a contraction as if you were stopping the flow of urine (PC). Gently increase tension WITHOUT contracting your anus. At certain point you will be able to go no farther. Now contract your anus, this should feel like a drawing in and closing sensation at the same time (ANAL). Now try bearing down as in a bowel movement (RECTAL). What you’ll discover is that as this contraction pushes outward it works antagonistically with the anal contraction. This relationship may be used to your advantage during your session, remember it.

While you contract be sure to breathe in (expanding into your lower abdomen). Be aware of any or all sensations that may present themselves. Start with a set of 10 to 12 PC contractions of low intensity holding each for 30 to 45 seconds. As you hold the contractions, your lower abdomen should be expanded with air. Avoid a complete release of the contraction instead going back to basal or very low level contraction. (In general always be aware of the sensations generated from the contraction and the release as well.) Follow this with another set of 10 at the same level of intensity. If at any time during these exercises you experience a pleasure wave (P wave,) no matter how small, immediately follow it with another contraction of similar or slightly greater size. P waves can be encouraged and magnified in 3 ways: by contractions (PC, anal and rectal), rhythmic breathing and mental focus. So be prepared to use any and all of these techniques. If a P wave comes your way, gently push back with a contraction. With any luck when it comes back again it will be larger and so you respond with yet another slightly larger contraction… and so on and so on until a Super O is upon you! This maneuver is the essence of working in phase with your body, so be open to it. If a P wave comes to you while in contraction, do not release the contraction, but rather intensify it slightly…pushing back and holding and seeing what happens. When you first experience these kinds of waves, be careful not to get too carried away. Many people are tempted to slam them with huge contractions hoping for success. Remember more is not necessarily better here. Much as in harmonic motion (the playground swing) where complementary force is used to create a higher order of magnitude, one should be following P waves with contractions of supportive levels of intensity. Naturally as the pleasure waves become stronger, so will your contractions, but the idea is that they should never be of greater power than the pleasure waves themselves. If a contraction is larger in magnitude than the pleasure wave, it will likely extinguish the pleasure wave. Again, the concept here is to utilize complementary contractions that build arousal higher and higher until a critical mass is reached and orgasm is inevitable.

    Don't try to force it.....

The KEY is to relax, breath, and go with the flow.

Thanks also, Bama, for reminding me of using the harmonic motion concept to amplify P-waves. In my last three sessions since reading this, I have viewed each build-up to a P-wave as one "swing" of a playground or tree swing, letting the P-wave build and then fall away when it wanted to just like a swing falling back in its travel; only with each returning swing "upward" I would use slightly stronger PC contraction and nipple stimulation to make the "swing" (the anal flutters and the building P-wave) rise higher before it fell back. After about 6 to 8 of these cycles of anal flutters and P-waves building and dropping away but getting stronger each time, I eventually reached the one that crossed me over into a Super-O, in each case the resultant orgasm lasting 5 to 8 minutes. I'd never been consistently able to build strong P-waves or cross over into Super-O's before because I couldn't visualize the harmonic motion amplification concept of building upon successive cycles, and instead, when I felt one cycle of flutters with a P-wave coming, I'd try harder and harder to keep that one wave growing and almost inevitably it would die out and then I'd quit, frustrated. What a breakthrough for me!

Hello MyTurn, glad to hear you haven't given up on your quest. A few things I have learned since I was a newbie 3 years ago or so that is different than what I thought when I started. These are somewhat revelations to me and changed the way my sessions worked. I just learned them from practice and experimentation.

    1) I tend not to mentally focus on the GOAL of orgasm or pleasure, but I do focus on any pleasure I may feel and mentally concentrate / languish in it.
    2) Often I am more turned on and more responsive after viewing porn, and this helps with fantasy - which is important in becoming aroused. Typically viewing porn during a session doesn't seem to help as much as it can be a distraction. I also find thinking about women I find attractive, or attractive women I have been around or recently talked / interacted with helps in the fantasy as well.
    3) I prefer a female sex partner. I am turned on by imagining the pleasure they feel - but as if I am feeling their pleasure - or I am them. Perhaps with me having sex with them.
    4) When I first started I used to try and hold contractions thinking that made a difference. That doesn't work so well. What works is to relax and think of these other things, and just respond to whatever feels good and focus on that. Be in the moment, and into the feeling so to speak.
    5) Perhaps most importantly I used to think I should pant, or breath quickly or deeply, or whatever. I have found that my natural method is to breath shallow. As I feel pleasure I tend to breath shallow somewhat naturally as I am turned on. I've noticed I do the same thing and get an erection when viewing porn...it seems to increase pressure to the area increasingly blood flow or something. I believe this is how the process naturally works - even during intercourse / sex, etc. When I am really feeling good I tend to hold my breath for a turn and then continue breathing shallow. I seem to go into a bit of mild oxygen deprivation or CO2 increase or something. I tend to lightly breathe in through my nose in shallow spurts. I do this in increments of 4 or 5 shallow breaths through my nose to one exhale through my nose. Occasionally as I feel the need for more oxygen I will take a full breath perhaps in and out through my mouth. By all of this I don't mean you just hold your breath until you pass out. NO. Breathe shallow while in the mood working into lightly holding your breath a bit more over a sessions time. It seems to primarily be the breathing and not ANY contractions which cause involuntaries / p-waves, orgasms, etc. I do tend to pant, and breath faster in a shallow fashion when I am really getting excited or having orgasms.
    6. I will say that I have learned to naturally do contractions stimulating the prostate and anus / rectum / colon as a reaction to the pleasure, breathing, and sensations I am feeling. In other words, I don't contract...I allow myself to just react on autopilot to whatever I may feel and I only react in kind to the level of intensity of the pleasure. Never try to force yourself to pretend to have a contraction or an involutary spasm. I have always wanted to remain 'pure' and only react naturally and automatically. I don't want it to be me doing it to myself. I want my subconcious or what is that primitive part of the brain called - I forget...reptilian to be doing all the work. It is automatic. I see videos of people using the aneros and jerking all over the place. Sometimes it can do that, but I fear that some are merely acting. I try and prevent myself from anything which is not spontaneous and which is not automatic. I believe this is in line with your goals and beliefs as well based on what you have said in the past.

So there it is. Well that and you already know about the fish oil, orgasmic diet, abstinence from ejaculation for a time. Plus of course as you mention not thinking about or touching the penis. Rather lie, in a relaxed, responsive, non-judgemental state. Enjoy your now...not what you think your future is. Respond to your feelings, not the feelings you think you should have.

I had another good session this evening. In an hour and a half I had very pleasant p-waves and full on whole body orgasms with shaking at least half the time ending in a crescendo orgasm where I felt my body had been taken over by something or someone else. I could open my eyes look around as it was going on almost as if it were someone else...as while it was going on I had no control over it. Sure I could stop it by purposely moving or removing the Aneros, and also if someone calls or knocks on the door when I am doing it then it can kill the reaction. Sometimes however it doesn't. I am fortunate that I am blessed, and I do recognize this as a blessing. After a good Aneros session I am so relaxed and happy and friendly to people. I have learned not to wear myself out in super marathon sessions. They have a negative effect on how you feel physically and mentally. I tend do keep my sessions 3 hours or less and usually about 1.5 to 2 hours, but sometimes even 30 minutes or an hour can be very nice. I am amazed at how easy the progression has been for me, and I don't want you to lose heart...instead try some of the techniques I mention. Also realize any medications you are taking can screw you up...examples would likely be pain killers or anti depressants.

Oh PS: Don't over analyze!!! Too much analysis and dissection can kill the whole deal. When I read your thoughts above and many of the responses as well it is just too complicated. It doesn't have to be!!

PS PS: Your session where you thought something positive happened did happen. If it felt good...it was! At whatever level pleasure physical or mental is pleasure. Enjoy it and absorb it, relish it, find it's root and go there!

PS PS PS: Do not judge yourself!! Be not judgemental - really of yourself or others. You are who you are...you are valid, and worthy to experience this. You CAN experience this. Believe in yourself and in your own potential!

MyTurn, I see your question on 'rewiring' which I didn't address. This of course is a term that 'someone' pinned to represent what they felt / believed happened. I don't know if I'd exactly call it 'rewiring'. I believe this is a process we all experience all the time. It is like the new and different or perhaps exotic food that you eat and at first may not like much. However you persist and try it again and again. Over time you find yourself starting to like the taste. Actually you find yourself craving the taste. Eventually perhaps you become somewhat obsessed with this new food and it becomes part of your life. It is also like riding a bicycle...what you learn you learn. You don't tend to forget the sensation, and configuration and process. You don't ever forget a food either. A smell may remind you of it.

So when you use the Aneros your body is becoming sensitive and actually 'aware' of a different part of your body and a new stimulation. At first it may not feel like much. You may not even notice it much and you may mostly notice an uncomfortable pressure. However there may have been this pressure at the right spot that kind of felt good. Your body and your brain has a way of noticing that and zoning in on the feeling. Over repeated applications and time it starts to like the feeling or even crave it. After a while it drives your brain / body wild because suddenly those neurons and cells in your brain KNOW what this sensation means. It means pleasure from the prostate and all the nerves in that part of your body. These have a direct link to your brain and likely directly to your reptilian or limbic part of your brain. They by pass all the other body filters. Direct stimulation to the brain along nerves can tend to fire off synapses and these triggers endorphines and pleasure centers and release chemical messengers...some of these will make your body respond by a jump, jerk, or a bit of spam. If you continue and / or your brain learns to become as sensitized as mine is then you will go into extreme pleasurable feedback loop of full body orgasm and quivering. During this time my brain releases some enormous amount of something that makes me feel extremely blissful and hungry for it at the same time.

I will note that in early stages of arousal involuntaries / p-waves they often feel pleasurable but you still may have a feeling of laboring...trying to reach a goal. This still feels very very good. I believe most are in this state most of the time while trying the Aneros. However I will tell you and I have said in the past to others that there is a state 'that gives back'. While the other state seems to require more body effort to produce pleasure as if you are pushing an object up a hill the next orgasmic or even SUPER orgasmic state is like you have reached the top of the hill and suddenly you are in free fall down the other side. Your brain and body rush with feelings of overwhelming ecstasy but with no effort on your part. I reach this state many times now, but not in all sessions. I love it SO MUCH when it happens and it did tonight. It's been awhile since I have felt it. Perhaps that is why I am able to describe all this to you so well, and why I understand it so well.

Anyway, good luck to you. These things can be yours!!

    Hi,
as an update: I had a session yesterday. I had some good involunaries (invols) at the start, but they quickly faded. It felt as if that what it must be like to be the one receiving pleasure during "commonplace" intercourse. If that feeling had continued, I would have been in heaven. It was so erotic, or dare I say it (see my sig from 2008/9?), "pleasurous" (won't say pleasureful, coz that suggests PLEASURE + FULL). But like I said, these faded after a few invols.

I was contracting for a while, with some invols that continued as a result of my voluntary contractions - that is, for a "set" of 30 I did, I got about 5 invols, but not as good as before.

A little while later, I had some pleasurous invols which led up to the Aneros being sucked right in to the handle and being quite frozen there with a little twitching. It felt like I was at the point of trying to cross over to a penile orgasm during penile sex, you know? It felt like I was trying to jump over a wall into an orgasm. This "sucking in deep" of the Aneros happened a few times. It felt good on every occassion except the last two where it just became a frustrating tease. Also, I had trouble focusing on which fantasy to let my mind take me into, so while I chopped and changed, I lost focus of the Aneros being sucked in deep and the pre-orgasm feeling.

I fell asleep. I woke up two hours later, and had some great invols. There seemed to be a definite increase of erotic energy, involuntary contractions, PEAKING, pleasure, and a tapering off, but it wasn't as a result of those "pre-orgasm" feelings that I had when the Aneros got sucked in. At most, this was a very, very, very mini version of a SLIGHT P wave. No precum.

WHen the Aneros is doing its "thing" ("self-fucking", sorry) it is better than penile stimulation. As you know, I do not get hardly any pleasure from penile stimulation (seen doctors, I am not on meds, had testosterone tests, blood tests, Chinese herbs). I haven't done much penile stimulation for months (some stroking here and there, and I think maybe 4 ejaculations, about 2 wet dreams), so maybe this has changed? But before, this certainly was the case.

After that PEAK moment during my session, I did feel like...maybe 2 psycho/physiological feelings:
1: I feel somewhere between drained and satisfied. I think.
2: Frustrated that I didn't get to an orgasm.

I know, I know. It isn't about the O, but it felt like a tease. I remember a moment of anger during this session, lol. Frustration and un-enthusiasm. But on the whole, that was probably my best session. After a good one is usually a dud one, so I won't be reporting back for a while.

    Thanks!!!!
