New User - Progasm - Need Advice!
  • Hello All:

I am a gay male, 30, with very limited anal experience. I've never let anyone penetrate me, not really comfortable with the idea. (Leading to the inevitable inquiries - "Dude, are you sure you're gay?") Anyway, over the past several years I have used a handful of different inexpensive products, but none specifically designed for direct prostate stimulation. Usually I get bored after using it once or twice and abandon the idea of a "toy" for another year or two. I have been reading about the Aneros for a few years and when I stumbled upon one in a retail outlet a few days ago, I decided it was now or never. The Progasm was the only model they sold, and I knew it was recommended for experienced users but in my excitement (and arousal from a long drive) I bought it.

That night when I first put it in, I didn't feel anything. It was as if I didn't have a prostate. I laid there and relaxed and breathed and watched porn and became aroused but all I felt was an uncomfortable "invaded" feeling and the muscles starting to ache. I didn't give up though, and after about an hour of this and some gentle stroking, I started edging. It was then that I began to feel something. There was no feeling on the prostate until I got near the edge. Then, the stimulation on the prostate was noticeable and that delicious build-up stage just before orgasm was much more intense. It was only at this point where I believe I had some involuntary contractions (other than during the orgasm itself). When I finally allowed myself to tip over the edge, the orgasm was awesome and lasted longer than normal. I felt the sharp contractions pushing the Aneros into my prostate with a pleasant "burn" as I writhed in sweet agony.

Then, it was over and when I came back to Earth I had to get the thing out of me, which was a bit uncomfortable at that point. I was thrilled from my orgasm and a nice healthy cumshot, but a little disappointed because the device didn't seem to do anything until I was already on the edge.

I had a second and very similar experience last night. Once again, the orgasm was great, but before I got into the "zone" it was as if there was nothing there.

For me, Super-Os are way down the road. Right now, I would like the Aneros to compliment my normal j/o sessions leading to ejaculation. However, if I can't feel anything until I get close to cumming, I don't know how I'll ever even begin to explore a non-ejaculatory orgasm.

This is where I need the input from you friendly and knowledgeable guys. I have two ideas:

    1. I may be making a mistake by jerking off with it in. Perhaps I should just lay there and wait? Perhaps I'm training my body not to react until I've gotten myself close by hand? OR...

    2. Perhaps the thing is just too big and is overwhelming my prostate and rectal area and desensitizing it all, with too little room to move, and basically canceling out any good sensations it's producing? I know I should have started with a smaller model but as I said, they only carried the Progasm.

So, do I continue what I'm doing, invest in a different model, try not jerking off and just leaving it in and laying there in different positions, or what?

I admit, the orgasms themselves have been awesome, as well as that enhanced build-up phase just before and during the point of no return. I can see myself getting addicted to that part but I don't want to keep doing it if it's detrimental to my goal of getting the most out of the product in the long run.

It's amazing how many hours a day some of us guys will spend trying to make the almighty orgasm even better. I guess we know what the motivating force in our lives is... ;-)

Looking forward to hearing back from some of you!

    Hello Hitchens,

And welcome to the Aneros forums and your journey of personal discovery. :)

Let me preface by first saying that I am not an advanced user...yet. But I am well on my way by owning and using an MGX and a Helix.

    1. I may be making a mistake by jerking off with it in.

You are right in suspecting this to be a mistake. And it is the same one I made also. There is two parts to this that I have observed. The first and most important part is not to masturbate during or after your Aneros sessions, so as to cultivate and grow the feeling and notion that there is a different pleasure center in your body(prostrate and anus) that is not your penis. The second part of this, is that it is extremely helpful to go into your sessions as aroused as possible. So a good way of doing so is to keep masturbation to a bare minimum to none. Which also helps with the first part.

Have you ever tried learning a new and better technique for something that you are very familiar with? Did you notice that you had to basically disallow yourself from using the old way/technique until you got used to the new way of doing it? I find the Aneros to be very much the same thing. Your trying to teach your body and mind to find pleasure in areas that they might not have previously done so.

Perhaps I should just lay there and wait?

As crazy as this sounds....yes. But it doesn't have to be boring. And will certainly be less so if you go into the session very aroused. What I've found is that nothing pleasurable happens until your anus is COMPLETELY relaxed and comfortable with the Aneros in it. And in my opinion, that generally cannot be done without relaxing your whole body while taking deep abdominal breaths. What helped me the most with this was using the MGX as it is the slimmest of all the Aneros models. You might have made things more difficult for yourself by starting with the Progasm considering you have very limited experience in anal play. But not impossible if you are patient. If you find yourself getting bored just laying there, distract yourself with something. Read or watch some porn, this will take your mind off of the boredom and the learning process of using the Aneros while increasing your excitement. Just remember not to touch your penis or focus your attention on the familiar sensations coming from it. You want to feel the new sensations coming from your anus and prostrate.

Perhaps I'm training my body not to react until I've gotten myself close by hand? OR...

Your just reinforcing your body to react to the familiar sensations from your penis. Until you give up(at least temporarily) using your penis as your pleasure center through masturbating, you won't find the alternate path to pleasure that the Aneros can provide.

    2. Perhaps the thing is just too big and is overwhelming my prostate and rectal area and desensitizing it all, with too little room to move, and basically canceling out any good sensations it's producing?

I don't think so. But once again, you will not feel any pleasurable sensations from it unless your anus is COMPLETELY relaxed and comfortable around it. So if you feel any pain or discomfort with it inserted, you are not relaxed enough. The other thing that I read about the Progasm from other men on this forum is that it tends to require a good bit of extra lube compared to other models to allow it to move freely. Have you tried pre-lubing using a lubricant applicator like the one they sell at the following link before inserting the lubed Progasm?

One other thing to think about is your level of comfortableness of anal play. Allowing yourself to accept that it is ok to have this device in your butt goes a long way towards finding pleasure in it. Which is kind of funny in a weird way considering you are a gay male. As I had a difficult enough time coming to terms with this being a straight male. But my point being that mental discomfort with this can be just as much of a road block as physical discomfort.

I know I should have started with a smaller model but as I said, they only carried the Progasm.

I agree that a smaller model would have been easier to start with. But it does not make it impossible to work with what you have. Although you may find yourself purchasing other models in the future as you become either more frustrated, curious, or experienced. :D If you find yourself wanting to purchase another model, I'd recommend either the MGX or the Helix. I bought the Helix first and didn't have very good results. I started to have really good results with the MGX. But now that I am getting more experienced in the usage of these devices, I find the Helix to be more to my liking as it doesn't press so deeply on my prostrate during strong anal contractions. You can read about my experiences with them at the following link.

So, do I continue what I'm doing, invest in a different model, try not jerking off and just leaving it in and laying there in different positions, or what?

I think I've answered most of this question already. As far as positions go. I certainly doesn't hurt to try different positions. As for me, the position that feels the best for me is on my side, bottom leg straight, top leg slightly bent. This differs for everyone though.

Be patient with your journey. Don't make any expectations of what will happen during your sessions. Just allow things to be. Relax, and be at peace while being as horny as possible. What a contradiction! LOL

Also, if you want to see results. Don't allow yourself to abandon using the Aneros for another year or two. I did the same thing with the Helix I used it sparingly here and there for over a year because of no results, until just recently when I started to get some nice sensations from it. Then I bought the MGX and that jump started the whole thing. Practice using it on a regular basis if you can. I'm trying for every other day myself. Like anything else, if you don't practice very often, it takes longer to get results.

    Good luck on your journey.

    Hi Hitchens,

You have a tremendous response here from Love_is so take it all in and you will not be sorry.

I have to wonder how it will be when you put some months into your practice with your Progasm and then you buy one of the smaller models. I think that you will be amazed. I am not suggesting that you go right out and get one now, Love_is is right, you can do this with the Progasm. It is simply a different approach and one that many others before you have done successfully.

Try to get yourself away from the masturbation during the sessions at least early on in your journey. Once you master the technique, you will find that masturbation will be less and less desirable because it does have a tendency to bring your session to an end.

    Have fun.
