    "Valera Organic Vaginal Lubricant"

That's why it is a bit odd.

Oops I shouldn't have said that! Androforte is a hormone replacement therapy I am on. Available by script only. What I meant was syringes are around. E.g. Vaginal thrush medication comes with an all plastic syringe I think! There used to be an applicator for a vaginal contraceptive. Amazon will not mail anything like toys or syringes to Australia. So I have had to improvise. I also notice they won't mail the same to some US states. Bit hard when you want to do the right thing safely! Sorry if I have misled you. I do appreciate the discussion and information on the forum.

I hope it lasts a long time because it is pricey (or dear to Brits) @$16 for 3oz at both Cheap Lubes and Amazon.

Yes, I searched for af and figured out what you meant.

I'm using a glue applicator, bought from a woodworking shop and modified. Works fine.

I use a baby oral medicine syringe that I got at the grocery store for less than a dollar.

I think what dingus is talking about is the rubber O ring on the plunger. Unfortunately I don't know the answer to this.

That's exactly my question: will vegetable oils cause that rubber piece to deteriorate. I would expect mineral oil to damage it, but vegetable oils, I'm not sure.

I Googled "rubber" and "vegetable oil" and "deteriorate" and discovered discussions on biodiesel boards about the damage to some engine parts (gaskets and seals and such) that results from converting a diesel engine to biodiesel, so that might be the answer: yes, it does.

The reason I asked is that someone mentioned coconut oil as a lube. I tried it, using my syringe as an applicator, and it worked really well. But if it were to cause the rubber thing to rot away or melt, I'd have to think of a different way to use it.

I really think everyone is overthinking this. I see alot of discussion of wear due to type of lube and I really think it's unfounded. You're not driving a car here...your sticking something in your ass and learning how to let yourself be free and feel pleasure...lol.

Just make sure whatever lube you use is safe and works for you. Overthinking things was not apart of my journey.

Over thinking - yep you can get lost in it.
Many hardware stores will sell various sized "o" rings. These will most certainly be neoprene and oil safe. Car garages and autos shops will also sell oil safe "o" rings.

FWIW, a few weeks ago I mistakenly used walnut oil instead of KY gel in a syringe (each are stored in similar small jars), and that syringe has never worked properly since. It is as if the oil has caused the O ring to swell and it is now too tight.
It's not a great problem as syringes are not that expensive but I doubt I will use walnut oils in a syringe again.

I was trying to think what happened to one of my syringes, butt that is it. The o ring swelled up so it became impossible to push it in the plunger. I don't remember what I used. It was before I started using shea butter and vaseline. I don't use syringe anymore. No need for it.

Just a quick update after a couple of weeks of use:

                          - A comment was made about the cost of a 3oz tube being high. It does seem expensive, but it only takes a small amount and lasts a long time. Maybe one reapplication in several hours. My first tube is going to last much longer than my liquid choices.

                          - No messiness. Other lubes rub most off during insertion. This seems to stay on the massager.

                          - No side effects during or after. No laxative effects.

                          - Outstanding with the Syn, even sleeping.

                          - Great with the smaller massagers, nice movement.

                          - Easy to cleanup, no residue on the Syn.

                          - It still has a weird name.

I have tried a number of lubes and some were sticky, messy and horrid. I have now settled on MAXIDUS, a water based lube available from Lovehoney in the |UK. (250ml for 10). It is fairly viscous and slow to draw up into a dropper so I have now watered it down a little. 2 to 1 ie. one part water. This water is sterile from cold but boiled kettle. It is easy to load up and very effective. No mess and very clean.

Do you mean Maximus lube? I have some, but my body doesn't like it much.
