When I did work, I did naval engineering and design on CAD for 5 years. Then got switched into the environmental job that lead to my injury.

Oh, well, at least I'm alive and can have pleasure still.

Now, I live in a cube farm and I'm about 10 to 20 months out from a major career change. I don't care if I'm stocking shelfs in a grocery store.... I won't be climbing towers in all kinds of weather, I won't be going to every hurricane ravaged area and rebuilding the infrastructure... and I won't be sitting in a cube in front of a spreadsheet working numbers and stats for some upcoming briefing or project. I can't wait.

Second, the idea that professionalism means lack of sexuality is quite dated and needs some reform. While it's true that one's sex life need stay out of the work place, it does not mean that a professional must also be asexual.

This is why we live in a society where teachers get fired for having facebook profiles with bikini-clad pictures, etc. We seem to believe that sexuality leads to the potential for blackmail and loss of professional credibility. Instead, I argue that the potential for blackmail exists because people are forced by society to keep their sexuality very private.

I humbly pray for the day that sexuality can be openly discussed in a society of consenting adults without fear of judgment, reprisal, or condemnation. Of course, it's never going to happen. Sexuality is the most beautiful thing we have as mortal beings. Why shut it out? It's certainly prettier and less corrupting than violence, and we plaster that all over everything.
