Perhaps there's some age correlation to glycerin sensitivity. If so, it might help some nubies.

If by 'sensitivity' you mean that it makes you want to have a BM, my answer is "yes" if I use more than about 5ml. Provided I limit use to less than this, it's pretty much OK!
During the first two weeks of my Aneros journey, last May, I used glycerin-based KY gel and Astroglide lube. About two days after each of my two Aneros sessions, I had severe bouts with diarrhea. With the second bout, I seriously contemplated ending my Aneros sessions altogether. When I researched the forum, I found suggestions for using a water-based lube. I tracked down the water-based versions of KY and Astroglide AND everything has been fine since! :P
I hear boy butter is good how does it make ya feel what base is it

I'm sure I voted yes on this quite a while ago. But I also wanted to mention another less talked about reaction from water based lubes that have glycerin in them. For myself and some other users, these lubes can also cause a painful burning sensation in the inner anal sphincter muscle. Which if you can even get past the urge to purge feeling, still makes for a very uncomfortable Aneros session. This is not a good first impression for an Aneros beginner. And could very well keep them from continuing to practice.

"Runny" Bowels
Love_is
Interesting point Love_is, I've sometimes had a bit of a "ring sting" and assumed I'd over cooked things (even if early in a session) but maybe it's a lube sensitivity issue. It certainly hasn't been a case of drying up (although I have done that and it's no fun extracting a dry Progasm).
Geezer
Unfortunately I am sensitive to glycerin lubes. Water based glycerin lube was the first I tried when I first got my aneros and the first few sessions I was like "why does burn!?' and it was extremely uncomfortable having to constantly reapply due to absorption. Within a week I switched to silicone and it is just great...no need to reapply and absolutely no uncomfortable sensations.
I didn't think I was until I switched to Shea Butter. Sessions run a lot smoother now... no pun intended.
It really gets my bowels rumbling, sometimes for days afterward. Slippery Stuff Gel even bothers a little, but I suspect it's due to subconsciously sabotaging myself. When I make up my mind to have a session, I start getting gas, before inserting lube.
Glycerin bugs me too.
It doesn't absorb into your skin, which is good I guess, but suppositories are made of pure glycerin.
It may sound strange, but do a "taste test" on any lubes. Just touch a very small amount on your tongue. If it's volatile (ie. stings like soap when you touch it on your tongue) don't put it inside you.
I use petroleum jelly almost exclusively and have without any problems.
I was and it really bothered my sensations. Now it's Olive Oil, what a big difference!!!!!
90% of what is considered "impossible" is, in fact, possible.
olive oil yee says hmm... xtra virgin , as there is a difference
